This is scary. The fake cards have gotten so much better and will continue to get better in terms of quality. I'm only going to buy from enchanteds from my LGS or trusted people from now on. Thank you for making this video!
@InkbornHeroes6 ай бұрын
We are glad this was helpful to you! I agree that the situation got very scary for sure. Sometimes I am even scared to buy from a LGS, because who knows if they did the proper checks when buying it from someone else? The goal with this video is to at least alert the community and start educating ourselves to be able to tell them apart.

Wait but if fake cards end up being completely identical to genuine cards, are they still fake cards?
@semioldguy6 ай бұрын
For the ink cost number, it is not foiled on the set 3 fakes, but had previously been foiled on sets 1 and 2 fakes. I have also noticed that the same is true for the Willpower number on the fakes, on real cards the Willpower number is foiled, but on the set 3 fakes it is not (while it was for sets 1 and 2 fakes)
@InkbornHeroes6 ай бұрын
Yes, that's correct. We mention that in the video: that also, for set 3, the ink number is no longer foiled. But ultimately, what is consistent between all fakes, is that the ink number doesn't have the grid that exists in the originals. Thanks!
@l__eeanne6 ай бұрын
At the top of the lore symbols on location cards, you can see a significant difference in border distance. Specifically, look at the top corner of the inner white space and the distance to the top outer corner of the black border. It's like night and day when comparing the real to the fake
@InkbornHeroes6 ай бұрын
This is a really great point, actually! Thanks for the comment. I just couldn’t get more samples of location cards to see if this is consistent between them. So I feel that out of the 7 methods, I would always ensure to check the other ones against it to be on the safe side.
@l__eeanne6 ай бұрын
@@InkbornHeroes I totally agree - it's always best to check each of the methods you've captured here to feel confident in a cards authenticity! It's far better to be safe than sorry... and out of pocket :/

The problem with this is that print quality is also terrible for the legit cards. I've pulled cards that check all the fake boxes and some that look even worse. Print quality is most times terrible for this game. It's worrying that some legit cards might be marked as fake just because of how terrible they came out.
@InkbornHeroes6 ай бұрын
Some of the printings indeed makes it harder to call out what is a fake or not. But that’s why we recommend always using all of the 7 new methods, specially the “Ink Cost” one. As of today, there’s NO REAL cards that don’t have the grid inside the number. If you ever seen one without, it’s definitely a fake.

You have to make a new video for the Set 5 Enchanted card and beyond as they changed how they do enchanted cards!

Hey there! Thanks for the comment. We are honestly still in two minds whether we will make more videos about Fake Enchanted cards, or not. This type of content can be seen negatively by some of the community, as they believe this ends up incentivizing more people to buy it, than actually as a PSA for players. Obviously, from our point of view, the intention was always as a PSA.

I just received Scar and Mufasa enchanted cards today from the new shimmering skies set, neither have the grid pattern on the ink cost number or inside the lore symbol. Does anyone know if this is the case for all enchanted cards from the new set?
@InkbornHeroes3 ай бұрын
Hey there! I recently replied to a similar comment about that. It’s hard for us to give much data, because so far we only have Prince Naveen Enchanted to use as a comparison. BUT: based on Naveen (which I pulled from a booster box myself), I can confirm that its ink cost doesn’t have a grid pattern, nor it is foiled. However, when comparing to the new D23 Collection set, some of the new cards does, and some doesn’t. 🤷🏻♂️

@@InkbornHeroes That's a big relief to know, thank you so much for the reply.
@PimpPharaoh892 ай бұрын
Yeah I was about to ask, and the artist name is also foiled. I compared the pattern to the D23 and they look similar. I don't know what to do with set 5 anymore
@giannisgrats8832 ай бұрын
Hello! I have a question. Is the ink cost method applied also to the non-enchanted cards or it is just for enchanteds? Thank you
@InkbornHeroes2 ай бұрын
Hey there! Non-foil cards does not have this pattern in the ink cost, so you wouldn’t be able to use it as a method to identify a fake. However, when it comes to foil (non-enchanted) cards, unfortunately we didn’t get any samples of it to be able to give you an answer. We were mainly analyzing the enchanted cards, because of the high value it can hold.

Which of the two magnifying glasses is best to examine the ink cost and lore pips? I am concerned about a recent enchanted chapter 1 purchase.
@InkbornHeroes5 ай бұрын
They both have a different zoom levels. The Jewelry Loupe is "easier" to use, and you don't need to necessarily touch the card when doing so, but it also has less zoom. While the pocket microscope reeeeally shows the details very up close (if you manage to adjust its focus well), but it also requires "sitting" on top of the card. When using the microscope, we usually put the card back into the sleeve, so we don't risk scratching it. It's hard to recommend one over the other. We end up with both, because we like analyzing it from different angles and zoom levels. But if you can only pick one, maybe start with the Loupe and see if that fulfill your needs. Good luck with the card!

Are the Ink numbers foil still or no?
@InkbornHeroes3 ай бұрын
So far, we only have Naveen enchanted, from set 5. Based on that, I can confirm that the Ink Cost (Number) isn’t foil, neither has that grid pattern. They look more like the “fake” patterns from sets 1-4. By comparison, the real enchanted from set 4 still has both the grid pattern and foil effect.

@@InkbornHeroesI have all every enchanted character card from all 3 sets and as far as I can tell they are all real. I only buy from reputable sellers on tcg player and ebay. the only one that has me a little concerned a my morph. It has that crosshatch pattern on the whole card and the image of him looks a little off. but it checks all the boxes of being real
@InkbornHeroes6 ай бұрын
I would definitely recommend checking Morph further, as according to the seller on AliExpress, two of their fake cards they produced had some issues on it, hence why they go for cheaper. The cards were "Morph" and "The Sorcerer's Hat". So, if you are seeing any more unusual in your Morph, this could be the reason. :O

I hope they take this video down, this is making it harder for those who want to make money rq as easy as possible, sure its not a real card but if someone who sells a fake card at full price, who cares its still cardboard in the end its the same thing. Since its the same thing made the same way idk why people hate on them. They arent scamming others, its the same card made the same way, WHO CARES. The mircoscopic difference is so minimal who tf cares if its fake, i bought a 12$ elsa spirit of winter enchanted and sold it for $876, and ten minutes later someone bought it. My point is as long as its cardboard and made exactly the same, WHO CARES, i made a huge profit. As long as its the same card made with the same exact material, it will always sell,why would i spend 400$ on a boosterbox when i can just spend 12$ and make $865 after selling it, sorry if people who are making more money by spending less offends u but thats just buissiness, sounds like a you issue. Work smarter not harder.

There’s so many levels of incoherence with this comment, that I am having a hard time to fathom. I feel that if someone is going ahead to recreate a card, to them sell (a card that isn’t even “theirs” to resell to someone else), they should AT MINIMUM at least acknowledge that it isn’t “real” or “original”. If, as you said, they are all “made of cardboard” anyway, why don’t you be honest and straight forward to the buyer and let them know that it is a recreation of the original? It isn’t because it’s a cardboard that it makes it less or more relevant. It’s the fact that people are obviously making money on the back of miss-informed people, and scamming them. It’s just plane wrong and greedy. 🤷🏻♂️
