Slight Correction: 06:16 we mention that a game state check occurs after resolving Diablo's ability. However, a game state check occurs after resolving each individual ability, so should happen AFTER Let the Storm Rage on resolves, but BEFORE Diablo. Diablo's ability will still remain in the bag since it was triggered before the game state check. And the relevant section from the Comprehensive Rules: 1.9.2. A game state check is made at the end of every step, after any action or ability is finished resolving, and after each effect in the bag is finished resolving.

Thank you for this clarification. So many people got this rule wrong at the seattle DLC, but I didn't have a specific quite from the comprehensive rules to argue well enough, so i lost every argument, but now hopefully awareness of how the bag actually works will spread.😊
@semioldguyАй бұрын
One minor nitpick on Example 1: After each ability is resolved, the game state will be checked before pulling the next ability out of the bag (Section 1.9.2 of the comprehensive rules). Diablo will die before his ability resolves (per section 1.9.1.3), you still draw the card because his ability doesn't care that he is no longer in play. This would be relevant if, for example, there were a triggered ability that heals a character when you draw a card; you would not have the opportunity to heal your Diablo before the damage on it causes it to be removed from play.

Thanks for the clarification! I read it as happening once all of those had completed, not after each one (English is hard sometimes!). For reference, this is the section in question: 1.9.2. A game state check is made at the end of every step, after any action or ability is finished resolving, and after each effect in the bag is finished resolving.

First of all thanks for the video! I have one question: what comes first gaining lore at the start of your turn for the locations that you have in play or the "start of your turn" effects of your characters in play? Or maybe you can choose the order? Thanks 😊
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
Section 4.2.2 of the Comprehensive Rules covers the sequencing for this. But lore for the locations is gained first, before moving to start of turn effects.

Nice video, one thing I didn't really find an answer for. If I have multiple effects in the bag, can I just stop resolving them at any point I like? So if I have for example 3 draw effects and one attack gain effect, can I draw 1, then draw one more, then draw the third one and don't to the attack gain? 😅 Thanks in advance :)

Thank you! 🤩 Unless it’s a “may” trigger, a trigger is considered mandatory as per the rules, and must be resolved.

This leaves me with a question: if I have the card "Magic Broom - Illuminary Keeper" in play and I play the card "Madam Mim - Snake," both effects would go to the bag since they are both Trigger types. If I choose to resolve the effect of Madam Mim to return Magic Broom to my hand, would I still be able to resolve the effect of Magic Broom while it's in my hand?
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
Only cards in play can be banished, so when you come to resolve the trigger for the Broom you wouldn’t be able to banish it anymore, and so couldn’t draw a card.
@DarthHostАй бұрын
@@InkbornHeroes but the status check is done after the trigger effects, isn't it? Unless bouncing a card to it's player hand isn't checked on a status check...
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
From the official rules: 1.9.2. A game state check is made at the end of every step, after any action or ability is finished resolving, and after each effect in the bag is finished resolving. So it would be after each ability. There’s a slight error in our video in this regard (see pinned comment)

Question about the Flynn Rider / Camilo Madrigal example. Being that they both have "At the start of your turn" triggers, and Flynn Rider has a secondary condition (the "if" part), in order for his ability to enter the bag, at the very start of the turn before resolving anything else, that game state would have to be true, correct? I.e. if your opponent has a 3 strength character out, Flynn Rider's ability never enters the bag at all, so you never, for example, get an opportunity to utilize Camilo Madrigal's ability to grant Challenger +2 to give you a character with 4 strength, thus meeting the condition of Flynn Rider. But the video doesn't seem to cover this nuance and implies that his ability enters the bag 100% of the time, alongside with Camilo Madrigal's ability, without checking anything with the Flynn Rider secondary condition. This confused me because earlier in the video your example of Stitch Carefree surfer implies the opposite - that his secondary condition (the "if" part) must be met in order to enter the bag at all. Thanks for any help.
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
Yes, there would be a check before the trigger entered the bag for Flynn. That example was more to illustrate the start of turn effects, rather the secondary condition. And it was assuming the opponent didn’t have a character that would prevent this being true. But I appreciate how that could be confusing.
@LegatoJoeАй бұрын
@@InkbornHeroes thank you, this makes sense now then for sure. As a casual player who is new to this concept I was a bit confused at the time of watching the video though just because a conditional example there was specifically chosen and shown with Flynn Rider. So I guess I was expecting a statement of something like, "oh and by the way, Flynn's ability has a secondary condition so it has to be true to go in the bag at all - if it's not true at the time of the trigger, you don't get to try to resolve Camilo's ability in the hopes of making Flynn's condition true later, for example."

Is there a cleanup phase where I check if a character is banished? When do you check it? For example with diablo banished by let the storm rage on. Why does diablo die after and not before the owner of diablo draws the card? What happens if let the storm rage on is sung by ursula? Does Diablo dies after the second storm?
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
The cleanup phase is referred to as a "game state check" in the Comprehensive Rules, section - 1.9.2. A game state check is made at the end of every step, after any action or ability is finished resolving, and after each effect in the bag is finished resolving. The reason Diablo is banished after LTRSO is because the song is an action, and an action must fully resolve before the game state check occurs. So there is a small error in the video, the game state check should occur once LTSRO has fully resolved. For Ursula, Diablo would be banished after the first time the song resolves as a game state check would occur then, before proceeding with the remaining triggers.

Quick question, if I have prince john phony king. When he quest if an opponent has more lore than you they lose 2 lore. Does that effect trigger before you add your 2 lore from him questing or after?
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
The quest resolves first, then the triggered ability, so lore is added first. That means if your opponent has 2 more lore than you before the quest, once the quest resolves, you’ll both have the same amount of lore so your opponent won’t lose any.

Question for Anna it says when this card is in play all other opponents cards are exerted can this be used many times and what are the requirements to use this ability,can it be done more than once aswell as does she have to be exerted to use it
@InkbornHeroes20 күн бұрын
Guessing you’re referring to Anna Mystical Majesty, her ability is an example of an “on play” ability so only triggers when you play her to the board. The only way to trigger it again would be to play another Anna, or return her to your hand with a Mim and replay her that way.

can i activate pawpsicle efect? banish this item even if isn't a damaged character or a character at all? thank you for your videos
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
Yes, you can (as confirmed by the rules team on Discord). The reason for this is because of section 1.2.3. "Do as much as you can - If an effect tells a player to do something, the player does as much as possible even if some part of that effect can’t be done, except in specific cases." So Pawpsicle can be banished even without a valid target. If the only character in play is an opponent with damage on them though, you'd have to target them with the Pawpsicle in order to banish it.

I have a situation which happens a lot with me. I play purple green. For a simple example i have emerald cromicon and 2 goats and 2 rabbits. Opponent then plays be prep. Can i bounce 2 of my characters back to my hand when the other 2 die
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
As I understand how the Emerald Chromicon would work with the bag, each character banished would create a trigger. However, since Be Prepared has to fully resolve first, by the time it comes to the Chromicon triggers, there are no characters available to return to hand. But that’s my interpretation so don’t quote me 😅

Question: If I have 4 cost Jafar Keeper of Secrets in play and my opponent plays kida Protector of Atlantis last turn. So perhaps we can save our future is in play. -3 strength to all characters till next turn. Jafar is 0 strength 5 will power but has the ability Hidden Wonders This character get +1 strength for each card in your hand. I have 3 cards in hand. Will Jafar be at 3 strength or 0 ?
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
This is a fun one! So strength can go into negative numbers. So Kida will make Jafar -3. But his ability gives him +3. So in the end he would deal 0 damage. But if you have 4 cards, he’d do 1 damage.

when you declare end of your turn and the trigger are added on to the bag, while you resolve the trigger is still considered your turn as oppo turn still not started? example oppo have exerted diablo i have clarabella i call for end of my turn so clarabella trigger and i draw.... oppo can draw or not as the trigger happen when turn end and diablo say in opponent turn?
@InkbornHeroesАй бұрын
The relevant ruling is in section 4.4 from the Comprehensive Rules, but essentially at the end of your turn, Clarabelle triggers (a single trigger), and then a Diablo triggers for each card drawn and is added to the bag. Once Clarabelle is resolved, Diablo then resolves and then turn passes over to your opponent.
