Is Your Dog Safe on Raw Food?

My pets have lived double their 'expected' age range fed mostly on raw.

@@deadreckoningoutdoors Across the years the dogs have ranged between the minimum of 15 years to 22, these were giant breeds that rarely live past 8 years nowadays. No hip dysplasia either. The cats have ranged from 15.5 to 19.5 years. I've had rats live to 6 years (though not raw meat fed, but a homemade diet) and rabbits that lived to 12 years when their breed had the expected age range of no more than 5, again not raw meat fed (obviously) but a homemade diet.

In America, the food supply is so messed up. It makes it difficult to trust that I can afford to do raw because good quality meats are so expensive. It's like we can't win.

​@@bonitahall4630My very large dog get 2-3 chicken feet a day that I buy from a local butcher. The only prep work I do is freezing then on a tray for her. She prefers them frozen.

@@bonitahall4630you can boil them just a minute or so if you want to remove a bit of pathogens but raw are good too

What do you think about Dr, Marty's dog food. My dog is on Science Diet by Hills. She is allergic to Salmon, Lamb, milk, soy and barley. I thought raw food would be better but have not tried yet. This Dr. Marty on pet food has a freeze dry out that he swears by. What do you think? Thank you

Does anyone has tips for stained teeth? My boy eats raw, a little vegetables or fruit and baked sweet potatoe here and there.

Other little bit of observational science: wolves live 5-7 years in the wild, domesticated dogs live an average of 10-13 years (so like, double)

Another observational science…. Wolves have to deal with bears, cougars, competing packs, and hunters. They don’t have access to vets so one injury means the inability to hunt which equals death. So yeah I think it’s safe to say the life expectancy has to do with way more things than just nutrition.

Domesticated animals live way longer than 10-13 if you feed it the proper food. We've have had dogs my whole life and all our dogs lived past 20 years. We only fed it animal foods that humans can eat. Our dogs never at dog "food" in their entire lives. They never had health issues or had any meds or "vaccines." Their breath never stunk the way dogs that eat dog "food" stunk.
