Is your Flight Simulator getting in the way? Here's the Fix!

We live in a small house with not much space. Built this setup to hide away the Flight Simulator and give my Lovely Wife her desk back. Out of sight Out of mind. Takes literally 20 Seconds to setup triple monitors and get flying! I also Fly using Quest 2 for VR flights in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Currently running S10 Beta

I had a similar setup. The only thing I would do different is to (a) configure the main screen in portrait mode, as it gives you more pitch movement; and (b) put it against the far wall so it is the furthest away. Giving a better illusion of "distant scenery".

Honestly the best setup i have ever seen, so practical, tidy, discreet and by looks of it will feel like real thing by being surrounded by the doors which gives the sense of being in a cockpit

Instead of 3 monitors I use a smart tv as my computer screen lol. Works well in 1080p but since it's so big, the immersion factor is decreased a little (usually because of the reflections on the plane) I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick and all the other stuff I just do with my mouse and keyboard. Not super simulator-like but I have lots of fun everyday on it

I'm late to the party Gents, and I'm using a Xbox controller. That's a cool set up though. My wife is awesome when it comes to the Xbox but she was reading and I was taking a flight from San Francisco to Fresno California, and it's about a 30 or 40 min flight and my wife is watching and I'm in a A320 Neo and she says this has got to be the most boring game ever, and I said no, it's really cool, and so I explain to here what's going on the INS and outs the Google maps and physics of the game, and mind you in on the outside camera then I pop in and explain that I had to learn how to start this plane see all these buttons and switches, I added, most of them work and are real and I may make it look easy but it's not. So I started over gave her the controls on a cold dark A320 Neo and said okay hun, if you think it's so easy, here you try it. And she would never have gotten it going so I show her the guided check list, ok it took a really long time she got it going but then came taxi and take off...of which she couldn't do, attempt after attempt she couldn't get the bird into the air. And I said see it's challenging she said no it's stupid. Lol.

Look up a program called air manager for Android or iOS. If you want a second screen for PC can use space desk to create a 2nd monitor on your Android or iOS device.

It's actually an Android app second monitor which acts as a wireless display for your PC which you can then press the right hand side alt button when you click on the map. This will pop the screen out onto your main display which you can then dragged across to the wireless display on your Android app

I have a question, late when I fly the Airbuses either Neo or not. Even the 747, or a turbo prop like the Diamond and even a Cessna 157 or is it 152, at any rate doesn't matter what I'm flying but have noticed it more on those, but after flight and I'm in the air for about 10 min, all of a sudden the plane goes dark and all power cuts, no power to engines and no avionics, I can't even get the APU on...any ideas as to what's happening or how to fix this? And I had checked no Failures were on. And fuel was set to unlimited at the time. I'm new to the game so I have things like no damage and unlimited fuel on but other than that rudder Assist is off all AI is off so I can actually fly. It's a strange thing and my Xbox controller was plugged in for power at the time. It was a shocker for the first time loading up passengers doing a real cold start, ATC and taxi all that time spent and then to just have her fall out of the sky 10 min later sucked lol. Has this happened to anyone? I did manage to land sadly in a field where I advised the crew and passengers to crack open the bottles of champagne to celebrate we survived till help arrives...lol, only one that doesn't crap out is the Icon A5. Which I happen to like so that's fine. On a fun note if you turn off people, and cars or traffic or basically all outside world signs of life and then go fly over cities or places that are abandoned lol like Chernobyl or the place can't recall the name of that town Keiv or something where all the apartments are with the ferris wheel, anyway you can role play the zombie apocalypse lol. Wish there was a patch for that. Go into weather and set up live weather make day time oh and turn on the zombies lol. Thanks for reading and any help given.

@@AB-kg6rk I have since then figured out what my issue was. Lol pilot error. Lol, so I guess I wasn't switching on the Gen. So it was running off battery and so it dies and that's it. Also in auto start the Gen wasn't switched on so that is a fault on the computer programming. Thank you for the reply!

Hey, I used a standard linen kitset cupboard 500mm deep by 800mm wide. Mounted 2x 24" monitors that can swivel and used 1 X 28" monitor for main. Cut the shelves to fit with ability to slide in and out using rails. Honeycomb alpha and bravo, Logitech rudder pedals, lots of other bits and pieces 😂

That is actually a fourth monitor and I have simply dragged and dropped the Garmin map screen onto the 4th monitor from inside the Sim while running 👍

$100k for the plane, $3k/yr insurance, $100/hr maintenance reserve, $70/hr fuel cost, $2k/yr annual, $250 per oil change every 50 hours, $500 - $1000 per month for a hangar and then can add incidentals like Foreflight subscription, etc :) Flying is fun but very expensive.
