Thank you for the video. Morgans are so sweet...even many of those that are "details". And yes, I'd be in agreement: the third Morgan (84 O) would almost certainly get a "details" from the big three (TPG's); that very flat appearance was the first thing that jumped out. As to the others...I personally would be happy with the first Morgan; I don't think it has a significant problem: to me, the stunning eye appeal (with the realistic chance of NGC giving it a "Star") is more than worth the risk of a details...esp. if you give the submission on the lowest tier. And the second Morgan too has a realistic shot at a Star. Keep the Morgans-a-coming! They are so sweet to the eye.

Thank you for the insight on the Morgans James. It’s always awesome to have so many perspectives because it really can change a path for a coin for the better. I appreciate you watching this video brother!

I am naturally suspicious and I definitely see what you are saying about the last coin. I always enjoy seeing videos like this. It helps to train my collector eye. Are you planning on sending in the other two coins for grading? Thanks!!
@AcoushaCollectibles3 жыл бұрын
I plan on sending the other two in! One I am on the edge of doing so, but want to see what happens with it. Im glad I can shed some light for collectors out there and newer dealers. Not a whole lot of info out there with cleaned coins.

These types of videos are great for helping everyone train their eye. The third one does have a little hazy look so I would have nixed it as well. GD

The first one has gorgeous patina but the cheek looks scratched which can indicate some cover up and blend ,the luster on 2 is amazing number 3 looks cleaned . For sure you also have to remember every single coin had a different dye or batch at least they say year but I doubt it ! Everything was hand made.besides of course the huge Carson’s striking machine .

Being honest I can’t tell if these Morgans have been cleaned over that toning. Is the toning natural or artificial?

All the grading companies seem to be very strict on their grading! I would be leery of all 3 raw coins coming back with details. My LCS says that most high dollar coins have been graded and if they are not graded the coins probably have a details issue.

Going to be interesting to see most definitely!

I agree with that Jonathan!

To me all three have been dipped in e*Z*est. Coin #1 I think PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG would give you a MS64, ignoring that it was probably dipped. Coin #2 Cleaned MS Details Coin #3 Improperly Cleaned MS Details. The sell price of Coin #3 would be so low, in my mind I would buy it, and think instead of “Improperly Cleaned,” I would think, “Impeccably Cleaned,” every time I would look at it!
@AcoushaCollectibles2 жыл бұрын
I returned the one with tool marks. The other two straight graded by PCGS and sold. Thanks for your comment!

Just changing where its being sent really. Straight grade potential to the graders and others to albums or interested collectors.

I'd take that fake toning off with valve grinding compound and then polish it with Red Rouge. It's finish is shot anyways, might as well make it look as good as you can.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The best way to spot an artificially toned coin. You need to buy an electron scope. Look at the coin under high magnification. If it is artificially toned, you will see round colored spots on it. That is the only true way other than testing it for chemicals. But you want to avoid this just in case the coin is authentically toned.

All coin to me are beautiful it doesn’t matter to me about being 🧹 cleaned. I look realistic at coins these coins are well over 100 years old and l feel most have been cleaned at some point in time an shouldn’t be so much fuzz but I also like finding unclean coins also that were ciculated And wasn’t store in bags in bank vaults an forgotten abou
