Appreciate your daily videos Dan! I agree, I dont think your nervous system is broken, its just on high alert. As you start to realize that you aren't in danger, the nervous system relaxes and can slowly *fix* (relax) itself without you doing anything. For example if you squeeze your fist as long as you can eventually its going to start to hurt. The solution is to relax

Trusting and accepting the message that I am safe and okay. Being kind to myself and not beating myself up over still having symptoms and feeling like a failure. Giving myself encouraging messages consistently throughout the day. Thanks again for repeating the message that I am safe and that I am not alone in this. Thanks again for these encouraging messages. So much appreciated.

I definitely have issues with overload of noises. Were you on my walk lol. From silence to the noise of 3leave blowers. I go into hyper vigilance. Today I somehow pressed the pause button and thought; yes it's annoying the park is noisy, are you going to let it stop your walk. Made the decision to carry on and somehow my brain lowered the outside volume. First time that's happened. Normally I'd be running away or putting ear pods in on "noise cancelling mode". Definitely need to keep doing this pause button thing.

You speak about the brain as if its seperate from the nervous system, the brain is part of the nervous system. Also we know that the majority of what we say or want consciously does not reaxh the subconscious, if it was that easy none of us woukd have issues! We could just choose to be ok. So feeling safe is not just a decision we make, but a process that for many of us takes a long time due to our history, disposition, lofe situation etc. For many, they may learn to feel safe through meditation or breathwork, and that can only be a good thing. So i think rather than throw the baby out with the bath water, it would be better to encourage people to do whatever makes them feel safe, because just saying 'Im safe' doesnt work for most. Im not disagreeing with you, and I think ultimately feeling at ease and safe and getting the system out of fight or flight us he answer, but there are countless ways ro do that. Also meditation is often one of the few ways we can influence the subconscious deeply, once the noise in the conscious mind quiets down Thanks though, interesting topic!

Dear Dan, I do appreciate your work and support as in many cases it’s very helpful to many people and when it comes to nervous system you are not accurate, actually wrong, due to the fact as you sad, you are not a specialist. Please don’t miss inform people about things you are not trained in. NS is a very complex subject and brain is actually an end organ not the main problem in healing life long trauma. Definitely your approach to not freak out is very important but nervous system regulation is a subject you should stay away from. Calling out people who are actually specialist with years of training is also not very cool. With respect Patti

Disagree with you. Dan's way is definitely simpler to implement. We each find what we need. Sometimes though it can be beneficial to go outside the box. As humans we will never know the full workings of our brains and nervous system. Lots making loads of money selling fixes. Open mind the way to go in my opinion.

It's interesting to see this, I agree even the experts knowledge of the brain will always be far from perfect or complete. One of the things that stood out to me from this video is the comment that meditation or breathwork is only temporary, implemented in a moment in time. Isn't that the exact same as a message of safety?

@@darrelnantais8174 meditation and breath work are great if you are doing it to maintain your health but not to fix your symptoms. True nervous system regulation has nothing to do with these practices. Dan doesn’t know what NS regulation is, so he shouldn’t disregard it.

It’s about focusing on accurate knowledge that it is TMS/PDP causing the symptoms, not a problem with your body. And knowledge that there is a way to change (and that it applies to you). (Knowledge isn’t about pursuing more information about the symptoms)

Hi Dan What’s your thoughts on the TMS school of thought “In TMS, pain symptoms are caused by mild oxygen deprivation via the autonomic nervous system, as a result of repressed emotions and psycho-social stress”. Are we mildly oxygen deprived? This statement causes me issues as I do get air hunger at times over the past 2 and a half years. Thanks
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 9 ай бұрын
To my knowledge, none of the current TMS / Mindbody doctors are speaking about oxygen deprivation as relevant today. Air hunger is not due to oxygen deprivation. I believe it is due to perceived danger. If your O2 levels are acceptable, there is no oxygen deprivation. It is more of a sensation that causes that feeling.

Hi Dan, thanks for the video. At the 7,50 minute mark could you please clarify, did you mean to say something like "are your stories saying to your brain that you're not okay?" Because directly after you say "or are your stories teaching the brain I'm actually safe, I'm good" Thanks, Mitch

I've had autonomic nervous system testing and was told I have POTS/dysautonomia based on the results. I had a delayed sweat response in my left arm during the test. I have the typical POTS/dysautonomia symptoms, low BP, high heart rate when standing, dizziness, brain fog, cognitive issues, etc. I've taken the assessment. It's tough to apply the symptoms of dysautonomia to the questions on the test. Regardless, I scored 29, so I guess that's my answer... Is the testing not valid? Is everyone who gets that testing done and told they have POTS/dysautonomia actually dealing with TMS? Sorry to keep harping on this and asking about this so much, but I keep watching your videos and new questions arise. I don't understand how I'm "not broken" and there's nothing wrong with my nervous system when I've had testing done by doctors who specialize in dealing with these things and the tests and doctors both say I have something wrong with my nervous system, which would imply I'm "broken" in some way. I feel like trying to teach my brain there's nothing wrong is wishful thinking and deluding myself. I want this to be TMS but the test results, being told by these doctors that I have POTS/dysautonomia, and experiencing the debilitating symptoms of these conditions every single day has me feeling a bit hopeless at this point.
