The body gets addicted to chemicals from constant fight and flight and we can unknowingly be looking for those "hits". The evidence is there that the brain/body doesn't know real or perceived threats apart, it's just all systems go, which is why we need to keep interrupting the negative thoughts for positive response ones. We literally change the chemistry. Spot on with excitement and fear chemistry reaction, they are the same. It is what we do next with regards to our thinking that's the game changer. Panic disorders are scarey but we can relearn outcomes. I'm treating mine as a TMS symptom. I know it'll get easier and back under my control.

I deal with anxiety and I know it stems from a need to control stuff. Thinking about bad outcome in situations instead of thinking positively. We really need to make a habit of thinking in the most positive ways as we can . Life is tough enough we don’t need to make it worse with our crap thinking. Good video Dan . Also on bad dreams we got to shake them off.

Father in law passed yesterday & big family issues going way back. I know there's a funeral coming up,my anxiety hit high levels. I went out and was fine. As soon as I got in my home, chest pains etc then panic, then I started the self soothing and the pain subsided. Life is challenging but we do all have an inbuilt tool box. Sometimes we need to stand back, look in from another perspective and breathe. You're helping us all get there. Thanks

Somehow despite the panic I got up and spoke in the crematorium without absolutely annihilating them all lol I'd always kept quiet in a lot of situations til then. I have symptoms of anxiety as long as I can remember. Years ago I decided I did not want to live this way anymore. I took matters into my own hands and did a self help course. It was workbooks, reading and cassette tapes! This explains how long ago that was 😂 It was 16 weeks long and I did the WORK. I was amazed when I realized that it was my thoughts that were keeping me in this state. Changing my thoughts and habits over time really worked. It reappeared recently after the pain left, and I am still a work in progress, but I have so many tools now that I am confident. By watching your videos everyday I have become indifferent to those feelings and have not freaked out. I give myself consistent messages of safety and because of my clarity I know I am going to be ok 👌 You have helped me with this and for that I am grateful Thank you Dan and have a great day!

I have experienced anxiety panic attacks for about 15 years and being treated by therapists medications none of that really helped and at times may have made it worse. Worrying about what's causing things anxiety never really helped me but acknowledging it calling it out what it is calling it a fearful thought and then replacing that thought with a healthy thought immediately was the only thing that reduced my intrusive thoughts. I swear sometimes my brain's just bored and tries to scare me. Daily movement, healthy eating, and not consuming too much information social media or news we're also things that helped. Savor A mindful eating book made me be more aware of what not only I'm consuming with my mouth but also with my mind. So I try to feed myself healthy thoughts haha! It's helped tremendously! I have had anxiety most of my life. It is not new. Anxiety in itself is not a problem if you can learn to live with it. It comes and goes. I have learned to accept it and not worry about it. It makes me feel dizzy and blurred vision, but it always got better when I accepted it and keep doing normal everyday things. Before I could barely drive city to city, now I’m driving county to county. I’m able to go on longer hikes too. However, ALL my pain is gone. I liked this video a lot. I have more anxiety issue than the pain issue, and I do have a tip for those who suffer from anxiety. Some anxiety I feel is so uncontrollable that it is hard to stay calm no matter how much I try. But some anxiety is "manageable." When it's "manageable," I try to stay calm, and try to feel all the sensations in the body, instead of trying to get rid of it. However, when it's really big, and it's scary, I start to really focus on the sensations of my feet touching the ground. I mean, really trying to feel how the soles of my feet feel the ground. And then I start to look for the areas of my body that feel okay, and acknowledge that some parts of my body feel completely okay. Then I go back to feel my anxiety or the sensations of the anxiety in the body, just enough, so I don't overwhelm my system or re-traumatize myself. Then I focus on an object, whether it's a tree or a lamp or whatever my eyes go to. And I really observe the object with lots of curiosity. Then I go back to the anxiety sensations just enough to feel them, but not long enough to get too scared. I do this back and forth thing for a while (this is called pendulation) till I feel the here and now, and also know that there are other things other than the anxiety. Once I feel more okay with the anxiety, I use Dan's teaching of the calm reassurance. I tell myself, it's okay that I'm feeling this, because it's just temporary, and that it WILL pass. I tell myself "this" is just an echo of the past. I say "I don't know what it is exactly, but my subconscious got triggered by something, and part of me is experiencing some past that I don't know or remember." I say "I'm okay now, and that whatever it is, it's going to calm down eventually." Then I ask myself, what do I need right now? Or what didn't happen then (in the past when I felt high anxiety because of something that happened in the past)? Or what does my body want to do? All kinds of answers come to me, but for me, personally, my answer is "I want reassurance that I'm okay, and I'm protected." That's when I realize that I was never tended and reassured that I was safe when I was a child. For so long, I totally scared myself believing something was wrong with me or my body, or something bad was about to happen, and now I realize I need to reassure myself that everything is okay. Sometimes, when I ask those questions, I get an answer like "I need to be held by someone" or "I just want to hold on to something tight." I think I need to learn to hear what my body is wanting because it's not easy to know what I really need. Anyway, it's a long comment, but I hope this is helpful for someone. Dan's videos are so helpful, and he is so right that it doesn't matter if you have pain or anxiety, or any other non pain related discomfort. I believe his approach works! I'm still dealing with anxiety, but feel like I'm heading the right direction.

My therapist would say my brain has been ‘hijacked’ by my limbic system. My amygdala neural network has been over activated. This has happened a number of times - the worse tends to be when I’ve hit a new milestone in trauma therapy. It’s a natural occurrence when the limbic system feels vulnerable and all of the alarms go off. And these days they’ve gotten louder, causing more ‘colorful’ days than ever. The good news is that means I’m at the heart of something important in my subconscious and I have a whole set of tools now with CBT, TMS work, and Dan’s dailies to help me through. Medications are a part of it as needed but I know that’s not the solution. It’s just a reassuring tool to use at the tough times. But the real ‘cure’ is in my own consistent work to apply these principles of TMS and PDP that I am more certain than ever are the cause of all my physical and psychological challenges.

Start to shift your language from chronic crippling to temporary. What are you doing to shift your thinking about the anxiety? The more you believe it ruined your life and that you cannot do anything about it, the more challenging it becomes. As stated in this video, there are two aspects. Our physical fight or flight response and our thinking. You can use your thinking to affect your body. We believe what we think and say most often. Change the script and change your results.

@@PainFreeYou it's mainly my thinking but when the adrenaline fires up I get scared and tense and message to brain is danger danger. I just don't know how to change the thinking, one thought usually negative, and whoosh comes the adrenaline and then more fear and more adrenaline and more fear and more thoughts which get scarier and darker and on and on goes the loop. I need a pair of scissors to break this loop but unable to do so this far. It's exhausting. No gap from thought to whoosh less than a millisecond. Have signed up for CBT anxiety therapist and hope she can help me or else I will go insane for sure. Adrenaline fuelled thoughts actually make you feel and think insanely.
