Glad to see Rad Power Bikes designing, making their products to UL standards and and obtaining UL certification. It will weed out the poorly designed and made ones that are causing deaths, injuries and damage, including damage to the reputations of ebikes, scooters and the quality brands. Other ones I’m aware of include Velotric, Juiced and Aventon. Lectric’s new XPeak is certified to UL 2849. Electric Bike Company is seeking UL certification. Supposedly Ride1Up is doing the same. I hope all are following suit. I will no longer buy any ebike that isn’t UL certified. It would make life easier for ebike and escooter manufacturers if UL harmonized their two standards with the EN versions, which predate them. I think the main obstacle is the lower power cap in the EN standards on the systems and components (I think it is 250W).

Unfortunately, yes. UL certification really hurts the smaller ebike/battery companies since I hear it is pretty expensive to get tested.

@@ElectricRidesUT it may be good to note that Rad has actually lowered the prices on their bikes recently :) So the UL certified batteries does not seem to be affecting pricing negatively. Their newest safe shield battery however is a little more expensive although not obscenely. ( i think it was $100 more or less )
