I really wish they kept the original card layout and foiling with only the kazuki takahashi 1996 labelling changed to studio dice to indicate it's the 2023 reprint. I feel like that would have been subtle enough to not make it look so jarringly like a modern card, but still easily discernable from an older print.

I understand the sentiment but I really think that the short printed nature of MFC is actually a good thing going forward and it's an interesting aspect of the history of the set. It's never had a garbage reprint run, and even the unlimited is relatively scare (comparatively). I love MFC but I'm glad it doesn't get redone

I'm keeping my eyes on starting an old schoool collection I sold in 2005. I was thinking about buying all high rares in the 25th. Because the originals are only affordable in bad conditions. I would not mind because it adds the real flavor, but I don' want to burn money on the spot. It should hold some value at least. What are your thoughts on that? buy fresh 25th or go for really used originals?

I don’t think this product will flop. It’s already selling well. It appeals to collectors who want the classic cards and packs but can’t afford to pay the obscene amount of money for the original boosters. I avoid these packs in particular but I want to collect the Quarter Century rares because I feel that they might not be valuable at first but long run they might be worth something. I do wish they would’ve made the secret rares in each booster pack reprinted 25th anniversary rares. Would’ve given more incentives to buy the booster packs.

Also worth speculating that this product might NOT get reprinted in this exact form again after 2023. It wouldn't make much sense to reprint something with a specific anniversary date on it, in the following year and beyond when it is no longer the anniversary in question. Not saying that Konami WOULDN'T do it, but another LC reprint might not have the 25th rarity in it for that reason.

My biggest disappointment is actually just the artwork they chose for the other three. I feel like they went with some of the ugliest and I was really hoping they’d go with the starter deck arts to match the ghost rares

When I first spoke to my locals owner about about these reprints he told me that Konami had made LC and the booster boxes were print to order only with a deadline set for mid-February. Now that we’ve seen the cards and that they are identical to modern the move to make it print to order makes sense. There is very little appeal in chasing anymore. LOB went from a must have to a not worth it. Worst is the supers and ultras. Other than set code, an IOC BLS is going to be identical to the one printed in MAMA. They turned desirable cards into something not worth having other than for extra playable prints. More prints of goat format cards like Delinquent Duo is nice but otherwise this set is not very good. Maybe classic unlimited prints will come down in price over time, we shall see. From a collecting perspective, I can’t see it being worth opening or grading any product. Buy the LCs, buy the booster boxes, keep them sealed. Also the lack of LOD, MFC and PGD reprints is becoming a huge problem for Goat and Edison format players. It’s even a problem for modern advanced players. So yeah, I’m disappointed.

My buddy grabbed one box for hm and I out of a brand new case and we both got the Ra 1/4 Century Rare. So doesn’t feel like you can get each one in a full box. Very fun set though. Was great to rip open a pack and pull one of my all time fav cards Mirror Force.

These Quarter Century Secret Rares are not Starlight Rares. The foiling on these QCSR's is consistent with the OCG Prismatic Secret Rares, not at all like our TCG Starlight Rares.

Hey Omar! Love your videos man, very informative, probably the most informative KZbin channel of the hobby, and one of the main reasons why I’m back in the hobby. I’m probably gonna pass on this legendary collection, even though I was excited to get back into collecting and opening packs, not enough incentive. Any chance you might make a video about card price guide? I see a lot of prices being tossed around for the same card. For example, I have a 1st ed ghost rare Stardust Dragon in mint/near mint condition, and I’m waiting on the grading, but I have no idea of what it’s really worth. No clue how you could translate that to a general pricing guide, since every card is its own world… Would love an “ultimate collector’s guide” video for blue eyes white dragon like the one you made for dark magician though. I love these for what they are, being able to open some of the first sets for just $30 is insane, I just can't complain. I will collect master sets, it will be nice to have these alongside the original prints. But Konami could have done better with the promo pack, these same 6 cards have been reprinted too many times.

The 25th anniversary booster boxes for these sets except for Dark Crisis are out. Does anyone know why only those 5 specific sets get reprints and not other OG sets like Legacy of Darkness, Labyrinth of Nightmares, etc? I think it would be great for casual collectors to get these original cards in good condition without breaking the bank. I also wish they do reprint the other old sets, i would love labyrinth of nightmare. The goat format aspect of reprinting these other sets definitely is something that would sell. Idk about other people, but I really prefer my cards to be brand new/pack fresh, it would be a good way to get that quality but also have some of that vintage goat vibe even though they look like modern cards.

As a collector myself, I have absolutely no problem with the collection. They weren't going to use the old layout and never expected them to. Also having the new rarity in every pack would make it too easy to get and not as fun. One of the best things I love about being a collector is pulling an amazing card that's not guaranteed, with a low chance of getting. The thrill of pulling a expensive card or extremely rare card is second to none.

I completely agree with u about the new foiling including the star as well as the attribute, I don't think they look as good for secret and ultra. So it was a really bad move from Konami. Modern card are way worse then vintage in term of aesthetic. But yeah the promo are gorgeous so I am looking to get them! Great video btw!

Konami had so many options to come up with an interesting product - for casuals as well as for those who are engaged with the hobby for decades. Something like the "Legendary Collection Yugi's World" ... with new cards + reprints and holographic upgrades for old-school cards. Metamorphosis in Secret Rare would not have hurt anybody 😅. The "LOB" Blue Eyes with the new / modern card design just looks like the one from Legendary Duelist Season 2 ... , why would I care about a card like this. Let's hope Konami changes something soon. The new ones have a different text in the bottom right corner. Back then it said „©1996 KAZUKI TAKAHASHI“, now it says „©2020 Studio Dice/SHUEISHA, TV TOKYO, KONAMI“.

I expected most of this, yet somehow I was still let down. I was really hoping for a stamp or watermark denoting 25th anniversary. I think it would've made it stand out and special. Granted, to each their own there; some people really didn't like the Pikachu stamp denoting something similar on the Pokemon Celebration cards, so...that's a preference thing, ultimately. Even the quarter century rares aren't really any different than starlights. I think I've seen quarter century rares or some equivalent in the OCG, and they have red names or SOMETHING different about them. They really could've done the same over here which would've made the promos more distinct but also doesn't like, "eat," into the prestige of the true Starlight rares. Second, I was really excited for this for the nostalgia, but when I was watching box openings, I realized that a lot of it is nostalgia that I don't need -- that I wouldn't actually really enjoy opening it myself. Don't get me wrong. I love that they reprinted this and I love that it's a good entry point for my super casual friends. I just think they could've spiced it up further. I think I'm too enfranchised as a collector/player to love it the way the product was meant to be loved. Third, I think it's a bit of a miss to not add MFC, LON, or LOD. I don't get why they always skip over those in Legendary Collections. MFC has iconic cards like Dark Magician Girl and Dark Paladin. That's such a great way to bait people to buy. They would have to raise the price point, but I think if they basically took Master Collection 1 and 2 and combined them into 1 product, I think it'd be a fair bit more appealing. I think a box with 1 pack from LOB-AST and then whatever promos they feel like would be more interesting. Because like you said, it'd basically be a Goat Format sealed pile (minus TLM, SOD, and FET...). I will say, I'm at least happy for some reprints of the decent cards for Goat and other retro formats (some with updated text too). I'll probably be picking up some of the singles and definitely the "not-starlight rare," promos. I agree with your final verdict. It's a decent/ok product, and I'm happy that it'll at least cater to some casuals and give them a chance at reliving their childhood for cheap. Much better execution than say, Magic: 30. It's a really cool product idea that falls short slightly.

I have to say, the actual set cards look like garbage IMO - I think this will actually help the second print run of these sets (2002/2003 unlimited) as there are distinguishable differences and they're the closest one can get to first ed on a budget. I will be grabbing the God cards in the 25th rarity, but that's about it. Will be interesting to see what 25th rarity set cards we get

The starlight promo should of been the cover cards of the packs. Also ultras and secrets should be pullable as starlights. Also dark crisis is only available in this set, so I expect low market qualities and some value there.

Garbage! These QC rares that clearly are for collector's are less that $20 as I expected! They should have given us 25 QC as reprints for 25 promos including the main 6! They should have started what they are doing for the next mega tin with this instead! 25 promos at 6 per box, then have 25 QC rares as reprints to collects of each promo as they are doing later in the year, at like 1 per 2 boxes. Or they could have screwed of with reprinting this reprinted set and used this opportunity to reprint Dark Revelations 4 as this is a set that only came out in NA! The way they are starting this off is a sham!

They almost look fake. absolute money grab by konami. Big flop! At least it doesn't mess with the circulation of the original prints.
