​@@LuisPerez-5Even in terms of price and performance, Zotac is on the shelf just like Lenovo or Ally Z1 Extreme, the only difference is the OLED screen. Whether it is worth paying an additional 50%, everyone has to answer for themselves, because Ally X is a bit more efficient.

@@LuisPerez-5 for me, Legion Go is only better in Screen size and panel : OLED, followed by detachable (which means also replaceable) controllers. Other than that, there's no way it can outdo the Ally X in performance.

Did you update your firmware? I have the Zotac zone as well but I’m having problems with my custom controller profile not working in game are you have the same problem? Im not able to use my back buttons and I have everything setup properly

They nailed everything on the hardware wise but they were too late when everyone that has a pc handheld either got the ally, steam deck, or the lego. At this point we are just waiting for the next gen.

But the 8840U are the "next gen" chipsets. The Z2 chips are competing against those.

8840U is not a next generation chip, apart from AI it is no different from 7840U/Z1 Extreme, it still works on 780M, the next generation is HX370/360 which works on 890M. Actually the 8840U is no improvement at all, the Ally X is more of an improvement than that thanks to more RAM.​@@LuisPerez-5

The problem is that the Steam Deck is a few years old, and the OLED is like £400 cheaper than the Zotac Zone. £400 for a few percent better performance is just not worth it. Especially with the APU already being outdated, the battery being too small and too little RAM. 2025 is about to hit this like a tonne of bricks.

@@Modsyyyyy Yeah that exactly. The ROG Ally X has 24GB, setting the standard now. The new MSI claw has a 32GB version. I want 32GB in mine now as I want it to be a desktop replacement, so when I dock it with an eGPU, it has everything I'd expect from a desktop in terms of performance.

@@Patrick-y4d1z That's why I don't understand why Zotac didn't offer at least 24GB like Asus, in which case buying Zotac would make more sense and you could turn a blind eye to the zero performance improvement, and in fact Zotac from Ally (I don't even write about X anymore) or Lenovo only differs screen and cost at least over 50% more than the rest. I have a computer and I will keep it for AAA games, but I want the portable console to be efficient and have a nice work culture and a nice screen - these three things, and Zotac only meets one of what I see and hear from people who have had it.

Niece piece of tech. But after having a steam deck. And a rog ally. I always come back to steam deck. Because of tranckpads and 4 rear buttons. I cant withouth them anymore

Ppl buy a steam deck b/c they don’t know how to use windows. Which is their loss. Trying to be a pc gamer & yet not knowing how to work windows is like trying to drive a car & not knowing how to use the brakes. lool. Still nothing windows related can kill the steam deck. The MSI Claw 8 which will be significantly more powerful & is priced similarly means that the only place the Zotac is going is into the dust bin. DOA.

@@xspaniki I have hardcore steam deck friends that agree with you. I just really wanted something out of the box that just ran windows and not need me to modify in any way. Plus sadly the Steam Deck isn't officially available in my country Malaysia, so I do lose out on warranty and support :(

Too late and too expensive and too little. At this point, at a lower price, you can buy Rog Ally X, which does not have an AMOLED screen, but is more efficient, not much, but still, quieter, has a better battery and a VRR screen, although Rog X is currently an average purchase considering the price of Rog Ally and Lenovo and, above all, the January CES trade fair where a console with the Z2 chip will probably be shown.

@@Modsyyyyy well since it's their starting point and i did point out my version is still a pre-production unit, the necessary updates are yet to come. However it does feel nice, and plays nice too, the touchpad is indeed useful. I own a ROG Ally X as well too

And I have two important questions because there was a time when I was considering Zotac, how is the work culture? I heard that Zotac in 25-30W mode is definitely louder than Rog Ally X? And how does performance compare to Rog Ally X? I heard from someone who had both that Rog X is a bit more efficient? Regards

@@Modsyyyyy i actually had it since august, it was just under NDA. I prefer the ROG Ally overall because performance and battery life are the ONLY metric that matters when it comes to handheld. ROG ally outperforms it because of 24GB memory, so u get 8gb of GPU memory while 16GB goes to RAM which is a game changer. Loudness is subjective and since ive used many handhelds im ok with it. I would pick Zotac if memory was 24GB since the design is nicer in my opinion,
