Throttle Body mod to make it 1 to 1 with the pedal... done it on my drift car wouldnt see a point in a daily driver but thats me ;)

Am gonna supercharge my is200 and will go standalone and get a diffrent throttle body feel like messing with with the throttle will cause more harm then good in a boost is being added. And if she ever goes boem i will put in a volvo 6 inline from a S80 3.0 twin turbo there cheap and very capable engines with plenty of parts

I want to get IS200 and do this specificly so its fully mechanical with the throttle like older cars. How is it for daily driving after this? I drove cars with mechanical throttle before i dont really care for traction control much, i didnt even have ABS in celica i had.

It’s fine, bit jerky because it’s super responsive but you get used to it, throttle body doesn’t open fully instantly electronically

hey jd, i‘m havin some trouble with the etcs on my turbo car. I disconnected the white plug from the motor and welded the plate that holds the cable so the cable controls 100% of the throttle body. The car shuts off at 3-4K rpm, even when the tps (the one an the rod) is set to 100%. Any idea? Do you have the other sensor at the trottle body plugged in?

On a turbo car it’s recommended to keep it stock throttle body dude, the car with the tb mod runs in open loop it would fuel correctly for boost and afrs won’t be good you’d need a standalone ecu for manual throttle body

Totally fine if you have rpm little higher then stock you have no cold start issues

You don't really need to cut that bit off. The only thing you need to make that think move as one piece is an osher, or maybe couple. Once the nut is tightened it works fine and any single time the accelerator is pressed it can only make it more tight. But this mode doesn't work. And the end of the video shows it. The accelerator is not fully depressed because in this case the engine will stall. The ECU is monitoring current to the servo motor and once it sees it is out of range (it will be 0A) then it shuts the injectors at the certain duty cycle and the car can just crawl. If the accelerator is fully depressed very quickly much more air goes into the engine then available fuel from shut off injector to keep the AFR and the engine stalls. If I'm wrong please show a video reving the engine how the TB operates.

The car works fine with this mod and drifted first second third gear like this no problems at all car runs in open loop like this

@@JDsGarage sorry mate, it works indeed. The only thing you didn't mention is that the connector to accelerator position sensor needs to be unplugged too. I'm not sure if you disconnected the throttle position sensor but I left it in for the ECU reference as I'm running a piggyback ECU for a supercharger set up and it all works. Also the ECU is running in close loop so it should work for a turbo application too. Thanks!

Hey mate, do you need to cut the rod off? I’ve joined the two pulleys like said in the video, disconnected the white plug AND the black plug right next to it and it seems to run fine but idk if I’m meant to still cut the rod

@@toughie2722 You don't need to cut the rod off but there are 2 loaded springs on the other end of the rod that you better remove them off, otherwise the throttle pedal will fill heavy.

@@Corith89 with a turbo car you'd want to keep the electric tb but if you're on a ecu that's completely different story there's a Australian guy with a video series he's installing a supercharger on his 1gfe with ecu he made his tb manual you should check that out

@@JDsGarage I have piggyback ECU, not standalone so I need to keep oryginal ECU as well. Standard TB is driving me mad... I just can't figure out why ecu cut off on 4k rpm. I assume that ecu need some signal from TB when VVTI is about to turn on but since all plugs are disconected there are no signal... don't know :/

Take the cable off the 2 points where it’s slotted into in the engine bay that’ll give you more movement of the cable… then you’ve to spin it around and it’ll come out of the wheel

@@JDsGarage so basically, rotate the wheel, the cable should just lift off? No bolt removal? Taking the airbox off now, then rotate the wheel slide the cable off, undo the tb bolts remove it an reverse that to refit? Soz if that sounds stupid I’m not a big mechanical person

@@blunt-trauma5682 how many bolts are holding in the throttle body? i want to remove mine from my is200 but after i removed the 2 bolts and 2 nuts it still wouldnt budge much. I know I still need to disconnect coolant lines and connectors but are there anymore bolts or nuts holding the TB in place?

no you just tighten the nut at the place you want the tb to be at.. use a impact gun or get somone to hold it whislt you tighten it

@@gavinanderson6306 no it runs fine just cold start you must rev it a small bit for 30 seconds then it idles fine... You loose snow and trc and anti stall but it's easy to get along with

Check the forms you might need 12v to one of the pins on the tb I'm not sure to be honest or make sure all plugs are disconnected that also could. Be it
