“I lost my train of thought before it started” that’s such an Issac thing to say, it’s like a lyric from a future MM record.

Isaac Brock used to shop at the grocery store I was a cashier at in Portland, Oregon in 2013-2014 and was also my neighbor, I miss him living in Portland and casually coming through my grocery line, it always made my month to see him once in a blue moon, wish I wasn't so starstruck and would have asked him more interesting things though, he is super smart and cool. One time he asked how my day was and I said, "I can't wait to be off work" and he responded, "Yeah, I've only been here 5 minute and I already can't wait to leave here too" LOL I laughed so hard, good news for people who love bad news :)

I hope I can talk to Isaac before I die. He's a legend to me and many others. Loved modest mouse since day one and I love that they can maintain their sound and also make money off of it. What a fucking dream! Secondly, I guess I just wish I could ask him questions about perceived success and fame. Must be a complete mindfuck doing these interviews all the time. Love you dude and love the band!!

i hate to namedrop but i love to namedrop….😂I have met Isaac and had the opportunity to chop it up with him in just a normal setting and he is THE coolest guy ever. super down to earth. my great friend is actually pretty good friends with him but i would never ask her to use her status to meet him again. i have to be respectful of that but damn if it isnt hard! she will randomly send me screenshots of their texts or candid pics from going out to dinner with all the guys and it kills me inside🤣the JEALOUSY!!! no, but me being a huge fan like you I completely get where you’re coming from. when I met him it was 2005 when they came to Omaha for the Good News album and they played the smallest but best venue here. i used to do this thing where i’d go to the venue hours before to see if i could catch them hanging out and they were just playing wiffle ball in the parking lot next to their bus! so i had to go meet isaac and it was the best. my best friend who introduced me to MM committed suicide in ‘06 and i felt mad because I had met him and she never did. anyway i’m rambling and i thank you for reading this. a shared love for Modest Mouse is a very cool thing. from one fan to another, much love! take care and this life aint over yet, you never know the amazing people you will meet😉Take care👋

I sat down and had dinner with Isaac and his tour manager at a mexican restaurant in East Nashville, TN back in 2007 right after We Were Dead.. was released. My girlfriend at the time was writing for a local music guide called the Nashville Scene. I had bought tickets for the show like 6 months earlier and I kept pestering her nonstop to see if she could get an opportunity to set up some sort of interview with him using her credentials.. To my absolute shock, she actually made it happen like a week beforehand, she was able to set up a 30-40 minute sit down interview. I made a list of like 50 questions and she finessed them a little bit.. To be clear I had zero affiliation with the Nashville Scene, but my girlfriend was able to get me a lanyard with a badge to at least appear as a professional audio engineer (my actual profession) and not a completely obsessed fanboy who insisted on tagging along (which is 100% the case). Anyway.. they say "never meet your heroes".. w/ Isaac that could not have possibly been further from the truth. He was the most chill, friendly guy imaginable. I tried to reign myself back as much as possible but there were a few moments where I couldn't help but ask a follow up question.. my girlfriend wasn't too pissed, thank god.. anyway, he really was an open book. No subject or question ever made him reluctant or tentative to continue talking. I think about halfway through when I asked a question about Ugly Casanova he realized I was the completely obsessed fanboy that I mentioned earlier, lmao.. We wrapped things up and let him get on his way back to the venue for soundcheck.. we made sure to wrap things up right at 30 minutes, we wanted to be as courteous as possible for the time he gave us and we didn't want to take advantage of his amazing gesture. I went to pay the check for all 4 of us and Isaac literally wouldn't allow me to. He said that there was no way he was going to make a couple of broke college kids to pay for his dinner and that was that. I always wondered if I did meet him how it would go, and he managed to completely blow my expectations out of the water. He was even cooler than I even imagined he was. That was seriously one of the best nights of my entire life. I think about it all the time.
