Glad you liked it, Bob. In my opinion, It doesn't have the same pop, radio-friendly appeal of the Carpenters version, so it was almost impossible for this version to become popular or even known by the public. But out of that context, I think it's a great version, and at least as good as the Carpenters version.

I became a fan of Isaac Hayes years ago when I heard the album "Hot Buttered Soul", a phenomenal album. I love his orchestral arrangements mixed with the funky rhythms. Standard 3 minute songs were not his thing, if I remember correctly, the longer song of Hot Buttered Soul is almost twenty minutes long.

Hola Rui, no conocía este cover ,al principio no me di cuenta de que se trataba del mismo tema de los Carpenters, el arreglo es completamente distinto. Excelente versión en una línea similar a Barry White. .Prácticamente a partir de la mitad es una reelaboración total. El sonido es muy agradable , bien detallado pero suave.

Hola Roberto. Bastante diferente, ¿no? Y, sin embargo, la melodía básica está ahí. Isaac siempre hacía arreglos muy elaborados, y le gustaban las canciones muy largas, los temas de 3 minutos no eran para él. 😄 En cuanto al audio, el álbum suena muy suave, pero rico, aunque algunas otras canciones suenan más vívidas que esta.

Olá Rui. I had previous knowledge of all these songs, but to be honest, I had never stopped to listen to them properly with Isaac Hayes' voice. Not because I don't like them, but because there are tons to listen to. This Jazzy-Soul full length version is great! This reissue is very nice. How comfortable it feels. By the way, in the 70's edition, the gatefold opens showing the full size of Black Moses... Currently, and it is proven, Moses was not like Charlton Heston; I mean, he was not a Caucasian man. He was a dark-skinned man, and, of course, he did not wear those glassesm ha, ha, ha!😆 ¡Muitos cumprimentos!

Hello Raul, this reissue also has the unfold cover, which becomes a poster when it's fully open with approximately 1.25 meter high, and has the shape of a crucifix. LOL, remember that he was the Black Moses at the time. I thought about digitizing the whole crucifix cover and showing it here, but the digitizing process was a pain in the neck due to the size of the damn thing, so I gave up of that idea. This is a great album, although I slightly prefer "Hot Buttered Soul" from 1969.

Não conhecia - ou nunca tinha dado a devida atenção - esta versão do Isaac Hayes, sei que ele canta algumas canções do Bacharach, a mais ouvida o "Walk On By", mas esta deixou-me de queixos caídos, porque fez uma versão algo distinta do original mas muito boa. Gostei imenso, e o som está perfeito! Sou grande fã do Burt Bacharach, acho que ele tem um rol de canções lindíssimas e intemporais! Hoje, com 94 anos, ainda compõe canções lindíssimas, inclusive para musicais, e ainda acompanha ao piano. Experimenta ouvir os temas recentes "A Thousand Things That Were You" e "Every Other Hour". Obrigada, adorei!!! 🤩

Olá Paulinha, pelo que eu conheço do repertório do Isaac Hayes - e não conheço tudo - quando fazia covers de temas conhecidos, ele fazia sempre versões extra longas com 9, 10, ou mesmo 12 minutos de duração, para ele as cantiguinhas de 3 minutos eram coisas para meninos. 😄No fundo, ele reinventava completamente a canção original ao ponto de a tornar quase irreconhecível. "Walk On By", para mim é dos melhores trabalhos que ele fez com canções não escritas por ele. Tenho outro álbum dele chamado "The Isaac Hayes Movement", e nele está incluído a sua versão de "Something", dos Beatles, e como não podia deixar de ser, tem uns extra longos 11:45 minutos. Não vou dizer que é superior ao original dos Beatles, porque não é, pelo menos para mim não é, mas é interessante. Vou procurar os temas que indicaste.

Quando era mais nova e o Isaac Hayes estava na berra, lembro-me que estranhava um músico com tanto talento fazer quase mais versões do que composições suas. Hoje entendo que cada versão que fez, com todas as voltas e reviravoltas que dava, era como se fosse um original seu! Era um músico de primeira!
