Amazing song from the golden age of soul/r&b, the early 70s. And Isaac Hayes certainly had a magestic bearing about him.

On this day in 1972 {April 10} Isaac Hayes won an Academy Award for 'Best Original Song' for the "Theme from the movie Shaft"... Six month earlier on October 16th 'the Theme from Shaft' entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; and on November 20th, 1971 it peaked at #1 {for 2 weeks} and spent 13 weeks on the Top 100... Also in 1971 the Bar-Kays released "Son of Shaft"; it entered the Top 100 on December 25th, 1971 and stayed on the chart for 10 weeks, peaking at #53... R.I.P. Mr. Hayes...

Isaac Hayes is SUPER BAAAAAAAAD!!!!! This song is one of the coolest baddest funkiest grooves ever to be recorded in the history of R&B, and one of the big reasons why I love music of the 70s. This song was also the roots of disco and funk with the scratchy wah guitar which gradually became real popular on the disco scene. Nothing beats the a scratching wah guitar in a dance/funk song, it is super baaaaaad!!!

This is one of my favorite things ever. Isaac. The 70's. The chains. The representation. His sexiness. The feedback from the crowd concerning Isaac, the 70's, the chains, the representation, his sexiness, and the fact that he entered this event in an awesome car and had Rev. Jackson slowly remove his hat. The fact that he's like, dude get of da stage, this is my gig to jackson lol, and takes the mic.
