Sweet and Sour Pork | Cooking with Nora and Isabelle

My mom and my first time cooking together since I moved out!! With Maya Hotcakes and More we make a sumptuous sweet-and-sour pork dish from my lola’s cookbook. Lots of things happening here!

Hi Isabelle, My name is Russ, I treasured Nora Daza's cookbook which I bought from National Book Store since 1990 as a teenager, till I got married, I learned so much from the cookbook and prepared delicious meal for my family. I loved the cookbook because its easy to follow procedures and I love to cook and I even brought it to Micronesia as an OFW in 2004 and share recipes to our kababayans. Thank you for sharing some recipes even more!

One of my greatest regrets in life was not keeping my mother’s copy of your Lola Nora Daza’s book of recipes and dishes. As a kid, one of my fondest memories was helping her with cooking while she was busy reading the instructions in the book. Good thing is, the book has been reprinted and republished. Will buy one at NBS today! Thank you Ms. Belle and Ms. Gloria Diaz! ❤️❤️❤️ You are both looking stunning as always.❤️❤️❤️

That cookbook is a treasure! My grandma used to give it as a gift to newly wed nieces of hers during the 70s. I grew up leafing through its delicious pages of fool proof recipes. Now i have the updated version and I have all Nora Dazas old cookbooks. I love the story behind each recipes provided in the old cookbooks. I have Festive Dishes as well. I love her stories about her family, old pictures, her well known restaurant in Paris and other food discoveries. I have tried 95% of the recipes. Such a food icon !! Love her so much !

I once saw your mom in Makati walking towards Rustan. She was wearing a black and yellow dress. You can’t mistake her for someone else, I knew right away that it was Gloria Diaz. I also met your Aunt Rio with Hajji then, she’s pretty and petit but your mom is hands down dropdead gorgeous. She can easily win the Ms U now looking exactly the same way when she won it In 1969. She has the same standard of beauty of women who are winning the beauty pageants now. I am saying this not as a fan but as a matter of factly.

i was in far remote place in Thailand for 28 years as religious missionary and we have the that cook book with us in the our convent house...we learned to cook filipino food having that always in our kitchen as our handy friend...very easy to follow even if we cook the same kind of menu 3 times a week... thanks for that.! fast forward the same cook book is still handy but almost worn out ka papalit ng page...

I have a copy of 1965 first edition of Let's cook with Nora , hard cover pub with the assistant of GENERAL MILK CO. , (PHIL.) INC., Manufacturers of Liberty evaporated filled milk and Liberty Condensada in the Philippines. I seems this edition is already rare and hard to find when I search it's value in almost all book site of Google. Anyone interested? Where can I send the pictures or even video?
