I’m loving these overview teachings of what in reading in the Bible (using other sources as well to help with filling in blanks). Side note: there is actually an actor named Marhashala (spell check). I believe it is a variation/ summarized version of the biblical name. I always wondered where his name came from, until I read it (or the closest to it) in the Bible.

ISAIAH: • Wealthy, well connected • His Book has 66 chapters • Only prophet to call the devil by His name • Preached for 50 years Judah: Southern Kingdom/Tribe of Benjamin&Judah, Prophet was Isaiah, made alliances with other nations instead of trusting God Israel: Northern Kingdom, attempted to make an alliance with other nations but failed, were under the Assyrians 13:26 Dead Sea Scrolls discovered (1946) 18:08 Ch 1:1 Denunciation against Judah 20:55 Judah’s problem, Assyrians had already occupied the Northern Kingdom in 722 B.C. 150 later they are a free nation but the Assyrians are walking towards them so they are faced with the temptation of making an alliance with Egypt 23:02 (Ch 1:12) God tells Isaiah that he doesn’t like the sacrifices being offered to him. 24:50 (Ch 1:18)Solution 25:15 (Ch 5) Lord’s Vineyard 28:36 (Ch 6) king Uzziah dies (good king that brought great reforms ), Isaiah has a vision of Gods majesty ** Early ministry of Isaiah mentions the virgin birth is prophesied (Ch 7 : 14) Prophecy 33:48 (Ch 8) Birth of Isaiah’s second son 35:32 (Ch 11) Prediction 37:33 (Ch 13-23) Burdens against nations (9 nations) that had some contact with the nation of the Jews and hassled Israel Ch 14 Assyria and Philistia Ch 16 Moab (East of Jordan River) Ch 17 Damascus in Syria (a super power) Ch 18 Ethiopia Ch 19 Burden against Egypt Ch 20 Burden against Babylon again Ch 21 Edom Ch 23 City of Tyre **These 9 nations Still hassle the Jews up to today**
