Madam in question number 3 , the answer should be (i) because in the text itself it is mentioned that " When the doctors came....." they did not mentioned doctor to consider him one , writer mentioned doctors & the no. Is not specified so how can we conclude that there was a single doctor......

Yes doctors came .... Doctors play a crucial role ... Minor characters . So ,the character count is five . Even Richards does not have much of a role ...may be considered a minor character. But the beauty of the story each of them hsa a crucial role to play in the scheme of things ..major / minor . So taking that into consideration, we may say five characters. But if we leave the doctors out ...which I will not recommend, the character is four.

Well it's not easy to pinpoint ! Definitely not hatred and jealousy . The thought was way too complex to come to a conclusion. Moreover,it was not overtly a love relationship ( sometimes it was love and conjugal coexistence) So the most appropriate response may be fear ... Fear of being repressed / dominated in a relationship. What did your teacher say ? I would love to know her opinion as well.

Yes its true that she did not feel that she was immensely in love with her husband...but it is also true that she did not have a hatred towards him....at times she would feel that impulse of love raising within her and at times it was not....kate chopin here has portrayed the tale of a very regular husband and wife who are together but not madly in love with each other as is often portrayed in movies or romantic stories...it is a more realistic picture she portrays and so the line you have quoted only makes this impression strong in the readers' mind that life could be different and we should be honest in expressing whatever we feel like Mrs Mallard

Read the text I would suggest again... In the second paragraph is the answer to your question.... Where it's clearly stated that Josephine in "broken sentences and veiled hints " revealed the news of Mr Mallard's death to Mrs Mallard
