Just to add, ISC2 certification speaks in market irrespective of entry level or advance level. It really adds value to your profile and career. Moreover, CC certification is best and beneficial for consultant and security advisor whereas Cysa and others are more on operations side. Therefore, choose what you gonna go for and ofcourse CC is free for now and you should go ahead and grab until its free of cost.

Honestly, The only reason I am studying for this cert is because its free and I dont have Sec+ yet. Passing this exam would be a plus, but I kinda want to use this as foundational knowledge and move onto Sec+ and maybe even CISSP

You got this! It's not too hard. Some of the exam questions i had to read over a few times but I passed it using the provided free training and my friend bought Thor's course on it and we both did his practice exam questions together. I got my Network plus earlier this year (the only thing i have to compare) and CC is far easier than the net+

I’m debating if it’s worth just snagging it while it’s free or if it’s completely pointless since I already have Sec+.

Once you pass the exam you need to become a member to get the certification and it costs $50 every year

Since ISC2 is giving free vouchers for CC, I say it is worth the time investment. Heck, if you passed Sec+ already, it probably won’t be much of a time investment at all since you can probably pass CC without needing to study. I think the greatest benefit of getting CC is it allows to start familiarizing yourself with the question formatting of ISC2, which will become beneficial down the line if you are interested in their more serious certs (SSCP, CISSP, etc)

after passing ISC2 CC and CompTIA Security+...whats the next step??
@DionTraining
@DionTraining 11 ай бұрын
Congratulations on passing your ISC2 CC and CompTIA Security+ certifications! Your next step depends on your career goals and interests in cybersecurity. Consider pursuing more specialized certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) for a deeper dive into security management or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) to explore ethical hacking and penetration testing. Additionally, gaining hands-on experience through projects or roles in cybersecurity will further solidify your skills and knowledge. Keep up the great work and continue to build on your strong foundation!

Hi I am a newbie to all of this and have just started my ISC2 beginner coursse. I would really appreciate if you advise me what route should I be taking if I want to target roles in infromation security audit or compliance. I am in third world country, and usd exchange rate is horrible here, so I am always looking for cheap and/or free courses.

After passing CC exam, you should be working towards the CompTIA Security+. CompTIA uses regional pricing, so you get a lower price if you are in a “developing” or “emerging market”’ country. Hope this helps!

After getting the CC cert, is it worth to go for the sscp or should i go directly for the cissp?
@DionTraining
@DionTraining Ай бұрын
That’s a great question! It really depends on where you are in your career and how much experience you have. If you’re new to cybersecurity or still building your foundation, going for Security+ after the CC would be the best option. The Sec+ is widely recognized and covers a broad range of topics. It also has more industry recognition than the SSCP. If you already meet the CISSP experience requirements or are close to it, go for the CISSP. It's the gold-standard cert and will open a lot of doors for you. In short, think about where you want to grow and what cert aligns best with your career path right now. The CC cert gives you a great start, so build on that momentum and work your way up to the CISSP! We hope this helps!

So it'd be okay to go after security+ instead of isc2 CC?
@DionTraining
@DionTraining Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, Security+ is a great starting point for a foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles. It's comprehensive and vendor-neutral, making it ideal for those just stepping into the cyber world. Security+ can provide the base you need to advance towards more specialized certifications later on. Keep learning, and you're on the right track!

I have 15 years experience in networking.. Cisco routers.. juniper routers .. so wan solutions on vm ware … aka one of the domains of cybersecurity … I’m looking to transition into cyber security .. I just passed my cc exam .. could my networking experience combined with the cc cert land an entry level position as I work for the next cert and or a specific application based skill set cert … what would you suggest
@DionTraining
@DionTraining 9 ай бұрын
Absolutely! With 15 years of experience in networking and your recent CC certification, you're well-positioned to transition into cybersecurity. Your background with Cisco and Juniper routers, along with WAN solutions on VMware, provides a strong foundation. As you continue to pursue additional certifications, your extensive experience will be invaluable. Be sure to not neglect your soft skills - hard skills aren't the only thing that matters during the interview process, and stay confident. The cybersecurity field values deep networking knowledge, and your proactive approach to learning will certainly help you succeed. Stay determined, and keep pushing forward-you're on the right path!

Will this count as CE credits towards renewing a Security +?
@DionTraining
@DionTraining Жыл бұрын
You can use it as self-reported credits (under e learning), but not for the cert itself. So if you do a 10 hour training on it, you should be able to claim 10 hours.

Jason, so what your saying is that if i have my SEC +, dont waste my time in taking CC? If i did take it would it build upon SEC +? I was thinking of taking SSCP next. Your thoughts....
@DionTraining
@DionTraining Жыл бұрын
Honestly, if you have Security+, then CC and SSCP will not add any value for you. You are better off going to CySA+, PenTest+, and CASP+ to stay technical….or go towards CISSP if you are wanting to go management and already have five years of experience.
@johnwatkins39

@@DionTraining i wanted to stay in the realm of security. I actually started the SSCP and the CC. I can take both of them for free, training wise. But i will look at the CySA+ or maybe the CASP+. Thanks for getting back to me. I have my bachelors in information technology. i have 4 classes left on my undergrad cert in cybersecurity.

And what if we have google cybersecurity professional certification? Should we go for CC now or google cert is enough?
@galloe
@galloe Жыл бұрын
@@SecurifyU I wouldn't go for the CC if you already have the Google cybersecurity cert, it's already more advanced, covers more technical material, and includes hands-on labs with Linux, Python, SQL, etc. I would say the Google cert is more on par with SANS' GFACT cert. Besides, if you pass the Google cybersecurity exam you get a discount for the Security+, so go for that instead.

He clearly explained the circumstances in which the CC wouldn't be of any help to you, like already having the Security+. If people want to take it, that's fine, but that time could be used to go for more valuable certs that are actually recognized by HR departments. The CC alone won't help you get a job at all.

Respectfully, there is a lot of things that are wrong in the video. The main thing is that is a person that has certifications in CompTIA even CySA+ or CASP and they want ISC2 CISSP they SHOULD go for the ISC2 CC, not just to review and revisit core foundation areas in cyber security as a refresher.. It give the candidate a look into how ISC2 approaches exams that is DIFFERENT than CompTIA.
