As a direct result of this video, I went ahead and signed up to become an ISC2 Candidate back on 4/24/24, went through the self-paced training, and took the CC exam on 5/1/24 and passed! This is complete bullshit. You do not have to be a paid member of ISC2 to take this exam or receive the certification. In fact, the only time being an ISC2 member is mentioned on the pages for this cert in in regards to FUTURE certifications and maintaining this one beyond the three year lifecycle. This is standard practice with certs, and a shitload cheaper out of the gate than anything else. Absolutely no money changes hands up front for either the test or the cert.

One big difference is that US DoD has accredited Sec+ and Network+ from CompTIA but hasn't certified CC. That said, ISC2 has more certifications for the 54 different DoD work roles than any other provider. All the other ISC2 certs are DoD accredited. So I think the real value of CC is to get acquainted with the ISC2 testing style because the CISSP, CCSP, etc are some of the most valued cyber security certs in the industry. One benefit of the CC cert is that it doesn't expire as long as you get continuing education credits. I also wouldn't say that the CC is completely free because you have to pay an AMF of 50 dollars per year. I passed the CC the other day. I'd say the level of difficulty is similar to the Sec+. Believe it or not, Sec+ has an 80% pass rate while CC is around 53%. I never met anyone who didn't pass the Sec+.

100%! My primary issue with the CC is that it was released early last year so it’s VERY new in the industry, I believe this is why theyre giving out 1 million free exam vouchers so enough new cyber talent has it on their resume for HR/recruiters to notice and eventually make the change to add it as a job qualification. ISC2 is a huge org that created the CISSP so they definitely have name recognition but this cert is just too much newer than the Sec+ for me to recommend it to ppl as a complete replacement. I think having both certs (since CC is free anyway) is the best way to go rn!

I would apply for contractor jobs for the DoD. Contract jobs are always going up online and I think its easier to get into if you include key words the DoD loves like NIST 800-53 and RMF. I would look up key words they are asking for in find a way to include them in your resume and it will get looked at by recruiters. Try to apply for ISSE roles and ISSO roles.

Ok, this comes directly from the administrator of the CC exam at ISC2. The CC is NOT comparable to the Security+ and should not even be compared. If you want to compare apples to apples, you should compare the ISC2 SSCP to the Security+. SSCP has a 1-year work experience requirement and has an exam fee of $249. So for those people who asserted that CC was a lot easier than Security+, you are PROBABLY correct. That said, I still think it's worthwhile to get the CC cert because it will gently introduce you to the ISC2 testing style and well, it's free.
