I was asked to test iscooter U2 cruiser Ebike, it comes in at a staggering £595 so as you can imagine I was not expecting much.
After a 30 mile loop I was more than a little surprised by the results.

Just thought I'd add a bit to this after almost 600 miles on this bike. Nobby did a cracking revue. This is a very good value bike, it certainly has it's downsides. There is a juddering from the front brake, but it's not a huge issue, the forks are not great. The cadence sensor isn't as bad as Nobby makes out if you are in the correct gear, I've found it kicks in at around 2 seconds but it will be more if you try to pull away from a standstill above 3rd gear. If you live in an area with steep hills be prepared to keep changing break shoes, I'm on my second set, this may also be because I have it set up with pannier and other bags often full with tools, logs or my weekly shopping. If you are 6'1 you may struggle. I'm a fraction over 6' with size 12 feet and it's almost, but not quite, too tight to ride, that said once you get used to the upright position it's a really nice ride. I have really beasted this bike, overloaded it, had it airborne and taken it down a steep field at about 30mph...not all at once...the build quality is superb, it handles as well as my mountain bikes on the road. Like Nobby kept saying, it's a 600 quid bike...

Cheers Si, I'm glad you share my findings. Can't fault it for value. 600 miles is a decent amount of time to get the feel for it

Looks great, especially at that price. Any changes a person wants to make could easily be done over time and you would still come out ahead when compared to the price of most ebike's. Thanks for sharing

Not bad at all for the money Saber, can't speak for it's longevity and it could do with a bit more room. Defo an option for a budget commuter tho

All mudguards are plastic now mate. Under £600 is a good start. T-shirt is a winner but could attract scowls at the local scooter rally in Skeg or Morecambe. I never work on the assumption that price equates performance, that doesn't work for EV car owners who spent £30K plus only to find out their car is actually a mobile babecue lighter.

As for the bike £600 sounds a bit el cheapo to me I gotta Carrera Crossfuse/Halfords bike last year. That thing will do you for bike packing fully loaded 70 Mile range plus change easy. As long as you're sensible and pedal a lot and dont be a Lazy Focker all the time. But that was £2000 plus change once i'd put a decent saddle on it and added Rack/[panniers and a few other essentials. But i love that thing, it makes you feel fit again without having to lose weight or quit drinking or any of that healthy malarky. Maybe Halfords will read this and send you one?

I have a fat tyre Ebike mate that is more than man enough. The finish and build quality of this really isn't too shabby. More of a commuter than a bike packer tho
@leecooper8589
@leecooper8589 5 ай бұрын
£600 IS cheap and it's certainly not going to be for everyone but there are people out there that this is just what they need or can afford. Someone with a commute like I do daily, for example, would have this thing pay for itself in 10 months on savings on bus fares alone and would need to charge it once a week if a 30 mile range is realistic. So if it lasted 12 months they'd be in pocket. Especially if they could get it on a cycle to work scheme. It could be the leg up someone on a low income needs so I certainly wouldn't dismiss it. If someone got a year or two regular use, it could be just the ticket for them. It's not for me, so I'll keep looking but your bike is 1 I've looked at.

@@Nobby77 I've got the Engwe E26 that you have on my short list. I'm just maybe a bit biased against the whole fat tyre thing. I'm 56 and it just has a sniff of late mid life crisis about it to be riding something that looks like a much younger person doing food delivery would be riding :) But then, the fat tyre is much less likely to end in me trying to fix a puncture by the side of the road at 23:00 at night on my way home from work (yeah, that was me last week on my 1 manpower mountain bike) so do I really care what it looks like? I could certainly live with the range and price. As for the delay on the power kicking in that seems to be a consistent problem with these cheaper cadence sensor bikes. I'm certainly no expert but I'm wondering if there maybe an aftermarket solution? I know that you can get sensors with more "pick ups" which apparently means they kick in quicker that are sold for conversion kits. I don't know if that's a possible fix but it certainly sounds feasible. Or if Engwe get enough feedback from the likes of yourself they may think it's a worthwhile improvement to their offer to spend a couple of extra quid in the factory. They do seem to listen and improve their products as time goes by. A torque sensor maybe too much to ask at that price, though.

@leecooper8589 I've just tried another of their bikes a mid drive torque sensor gravel/commuter. Massive range and a great ride. Review is out Wednesday but it really impressed me. They have a big range of bikes and so far I've been pleasantly surprised
