this piece was composed for Johnny Hodges, the lead alto in Duke's band. his voice was so important to Duke, so that Duke had to pay Johnny as much as the the rest of the band combined to keep him in. I like the way this version turned out. Always fun time to be performing at the Foundry hotel when I get a chance. Stop by sometimes if you are around during Saturday evenings 7:30-10pm.
