The names Gen. Musa Bamaiyi and Ishaya Bamaiyi kept ringing in my ears during Gen. Abatcha's regime and i asked my uncle who are these generals almost on the same line of ranks in Army. Until my uncle cleared that they are brothers from the same family. I really enjoyed this interview and i love the part the General said he was on top and all of a suddenly brought down to the lowest in prison as destiny. What a lesson! I never know Gen. Ishaya could be as simple as this in live. I pray for your long live in sound health.

The interview was great especially the part that exonerated late General Sani Abacha , thank you for speaking the truth to us General Bamaiyi, out of hatred to Abacha and his Family he was branded thief and wicked but your interview has vindicated him, he was a man who meant well for the country during his days, other ministers in the meeting at that time should also come out and raise their voice and wash Abacha's name from the mud and dirt that was thrown to it. However what was missing from the interview is he was not ask about his family life such as spouse, number of children, their names, his late brothers spouse, ages, cause of death etc i hope in your next interview this should be taken into consideration.

Through his analysis I held on some points to make me believe that no one's is perfect 👌 but do what is right in front of God. Our friends pay for our own mistake thirty years ago they're 5 the general dismissed instead of we about 28 that did the havoc in beating the police officers then in Abuja.He said why did they allow us to pass through the gate without stopping us.As a Bridgade Commander he sacrifice those soldiers for the rest of us. This man is just deodorising their tenure as patriotic and forthright, which was not. He is speaking loftily with the benefit of hindsight. For those of us who witnessed their reign of terror, we know how they damaged our psychology as a government. As at 1999, himself and his brother were among the Generals that refused to leave when Abdulsalam was leaving until they were sacked by Obasanjo. The military under him and NDLEA under his brother were to be feared; himself was a terror, his brother was a monster and Abacha was a leviathan that could not be tamed. While they were ruling, he should tell us their efforts at building the country or even return the country to democracy. All they were about was to perpetuate themselves in power at the command of Abacha. Any mention or agitation against military government was resisted by them. We were all walking on egg shells then. As for Abacha, he should stop telling us that Abacha did not loot. Since the days of IBB, all military officers were looters and still looting till date. He should not come and bamboozle us with good words about Abacha. How come the foreign government were attaching the name of Abacha to those loot. We all know that even the present President, Buhari, once said Abacha never looted aby funds. How come he is receiving loots in the name of Abacha? Did Buhari colluded to soil the name of the man he worked under as the Chairman of PTF (Petroleum Trust Fund)? Abacha might have had good intentions about governing Nigeria but the truth is that he never believed in anyone criticising him and so were all who served under his government. Once you say anything against them or their government, you become object of attack. Sergent Rogers was one of the point men used to attack the opposition. How come he never released Abiola that he was not even the one that cancelled the June 12, 1993 election? Did Ishaya General Bamaiyi, as the COAS ever advised his boss, Abacha, about the need to return the country back to democracy when all the countries of the world sanctioned Nigeria and we were a pariah nation then? All they wanted was for Abacha to continue while they continue to rule until God intervened. He spoke as an elderly man and a stateman that now see how well the military should have helped to restructure the country well and hand over to us a good Nigeria like Jerry Rawlings did in Ghana, but they were more obsessed then with being in power and even roped Diya and other Southern soldiers whom they felt will be sympathetic to June 12 struggles, including Obasanjo that they sent to prison under allegation of phantom coup. I want to recognise the fact that nobody can be all round perfect or be a saint as a mortal, also he was less in the news then unlike his brother the NDLEA boss, under who Fela Anikulapo died in the NDLEA custody. In fact, they never came across as a Christian let alone as someone who are humane. Am happy for him to have been alive to live a good life at old age, but they missed the opportunity to put Nigeria on a sound footing before 1999.
@Luxurysuites-n3w10 ай бұрын
You lie, he was against Abacha’s succession plan, and that didn’t go well with the Abacha boys. I just don’t like the way he betrayed Diya and co, but he did that to save head, because diya went on to tell gen azazi about removing abacha and he was scare the coup would leak to abacha if he did not say anything so he gave up diya. I believe if he had believed in diya they both would have succeeded.

Correction! Jerry Rawlings did not restructure Ghana well. He ruined Ghana and ended up being one of the most corrupt, way way more than the officers he and his cronies executed for allegedly being 'corrupt.'

This character should ask for forgiveness from the country he helped wreck with the privileged positions he held. Those who believe in God dont do the wrongs they proudly. You don't speak about people gunning for a second experience in war when you continue to deprive a child you killed his father the same thing you deprived his father and you expect him to be quiet and be afraid that you will kill him the same way you killed his father? The truth also is that Bamaiyi never experienced war before the civil war and he went into it and came out alive. He would have run away as an inexperienced folk in war. They project such talks to make you feel less so they can continually oppress you.
