@@saminsanity4766 Miyuki is an awesome person too. But Ishigami is willing to take the fall for the people that he cares for. Heck, even for people he doesn't necessarily like that much. He is also very direct and doesn't hesitate to call you out when there is need to. Miyuki has also same/similar qualities, but he is a little more measured and thinks things further to make sure he gets at least close to a win/win situation. Though, as we have seen now, Ishigami is too good for his own well being. Thus, the type of friend that will be great to have, but also it'll be hard not to do him wrong every now and then, so the type of friend we might not deserve.

@@Misaki_Mei504 hey thanks! i do pause the show if there’s something more to say than about 1-2 sentences, but i’m not gonna pause the show for a short sentence or two. this is how i’ve been doing my reactions for a while now, and if i talk over something or miss reading a subtitle, i usually always rewind the show to see what i missed (i obviously don’t show this bc i don’t want to put the same scene in a video twice). personally feel like i have a pretty good grasp on these characters and their motivations, but regardless, it’s okay for reactors to not catch something the first time upon watching! we are human and just want to have a fun time watching shows we love 😄 appreciate the thought, though this is what’s been working for me!

Nah it was Kaguya, Kaguya was the one who initiated to investigate Ishigami's case. Kaguya was also the one who indirectly made Ogino transfer. They cut that in the anime. Iino also helped Ishigami to pass for highschool

I like that Ishigami lost the race. If he had won the race, he would have had the pleasure of success but would not have realized how to get back up when he failed. By losing the race, Ishigami learns that even if he fails, he can get back up with the help of people around him.

They didnt outright say it, but Miyuki and the student council looked into Ishigami and the rumors about him because of how Miko kept sticking up for Ishigami and protesting against his punishment. So its kinda because of Miko that he was saved.

well, that's not entirely true. she said the punishment was too extreme. and she's right, a fist fight between students in bad, but to suspend one of the students until he apologized while not suspending the other student was way too harsh. Her complaining wasn't that ishigami was innocent, just the punishment was unjust. She pointed out how he was keeping up with his homework, even though he wasn't in school, to her this should have been enough to prove he wasn't a delinquent; and she didn't understand why the school wouldn't let him come back. It was the principle who overheard her objections, and likely was the one who mentioned ishigami's case to Miyuki; leaving it up to him what to decide in the case.

When Kyoko said it was Ishigami's fault that Ogino broke up with her, Ishigami was relieved that she didn't end up with Ogino and that gave him the last push to not look back at his past and starts to accept himself and the kindness of the cheerleading group and the student council. 7:00 This scene has the most impact on me. Ishigami was under attack from around without saying anything for Otomo. But he thinks he can't stand it anymore and says he'll reveal everything even if it hurts Otomo. However, what he's doing with his mouth, saying, "I'll write it," is rubbing paper with an eraser.(he just can't abandon her.) It is a scene that shows how much he is conflicted inside. And he repeats the conflict beyond the one-month suspension until he has his current hairstyle. I cannot imagine how much he has suffered during that time.

The transition when we see the cheer team's eyes for the first time as Ishigami lets himself look up, meet their gaze and see them as peers really gets me, every time. It's so powerful. This episode also really re-contextualizes a lot of Ishigami's previous stories and his sense of justice - like how he asked Miyuki to beat Iino in a way that wouldn't leave her a laughing-stock during the student council election.

Whenever anime does the 'eyes finally being visible' thing, it hits hard for me. I knew that feeling of being unfairly outcast, no faith or help from anyone and the negativity that festered from it follows you everywhere (even at home). I never looked at peoples faces because I cared very little for them because of their negativity and abuse, I still remember faces differently in my memory vs what I see in the class pictures we took every year. In highschool when you get away from those people I still felt that worthlessness but eventually I met people who were like Miyuki and I started to remember their faces, it dawned on me that this was a way to start over and enjoy life for once. Sadly just like Ishigami I had those remnants of the past pop up again and they did ruin a friendship I made, my inability to speak up for myself solidified that fall. Thankfully I had friends who helped me after but the fact the person was willing to believe the the lies of their partners friends rather than me who had spent months talking and having fun competing with them in class hurt, but all I could do was let it go and move on.

they cut a bit on what exactly did chika and kaguya did from the manga. kaguya was the one who initiate the investigation. Chika use her insane social connection to ask around the juniors and cracked pieces of info. Kaguya was so mad she used shinomiya power and actually sent Ogino and his family outcast faraway to countryside living in poverty

Every time, it bothers me that nobody told that girl what a piece of [censored] her boyfriend was. Like, she deserved to know what the [censored] was doing behind her back. I get the whole, "Oh, she'll feel awful and be super hurt" angle, but good lord. It was only happenstance that they broke up; if they hadn't, she would still be with that piece of [censored]. They didn't break up immediately; she was probably still sleeping with him, thinking that he was the victim of her stalker instead of a [censored] psychopath who was sharing her nudes and *tried to pimp her out*. I feel so bad for her. It's a struggle to think of this as a good outcome, given that so many other people found out what happened and then just decided that she didn't deserve to know. Honestly, I couldn't help but have less respect for them after this episode.

So, remember in season 1 when Kei come to the Student Council for the first time and she talked about she is worried about Miyuki and then Kaguya says it's okay, the student went deliberately move to another country? That was Ogino, and Kaguya made sure to let the parents of some important students of the school know what happened, like Momo's Father, which is a Mafia Leader (if I not wrong). So Kaguya also was responsible for the breakup between Ogino and Otomo.

Another spoiler tho: The last few manga chapters he seems to be getting some serious wins. During the anime he aims for the top 50 spot, and even when giving it all ends up far from the mark. However, about 100 episodes later in the manga he has actually achieved a top 50-rank, despite not really changing too much in his study behaviour. Personal take on the matter is that Ishigami had fallen back dramatically on school subjects due to his suspension and his subsequent NEET behaviour. It was not that he lacked intelligence when he barely passed or got bad spots on the ranking list, but that he had close to 0 tools and formula's at his disposal that were aquired during this phase and required to solve other problems. That is why, once he started growing as a person and started caring about his studies, and therefore aquired the methods needed to fully reintegrate his lost year of study, he started slowly ascending through the ranks to a far more respectable and deserving place on the board. And if you like to know about ships, a certain Iinogami cruiser is setting sail soon. Sadly Tsubame was not the girl for him.

This anime series before this and last episode(Ishigami's backstory), I was thinking out of the 4 main characters Miyuki, Kaguya, Chika, and Ishigami, I thought they were all S-tier characters except Ishigami... I mean he's funny and a great character but nowhere near the level of the other 3 main characters... BUT AFTER THIS EPISODE, HE IS, WITHOUT A SHADOW OF DOUBT, AN S-TIER CHARACTER.

I think due to nuance not translating well, a lot of people didn't really get the whole picture. It's implied that what the boyfriend was doing is far, far worse than just "cheating on a girlfriend". He was using her as bargaining chip, as in, "keep this quiet and you can come over and bang her". In fact the "room" he was talking about that Ishigami overheard is implied as a typical Japanese "yari circle" scheme (which is a criminal event that happens in universities generally, not middle school) where the man arranges a room to pimp out their girlfriends for prostitution. What he showed Ishigami on the phone was sexual in nature, alluding to the above bargain. He was an unforgivable criminal.

As Miyuki said, Ishigami could have handled it smarter, but what he did was ultimately the right move. Ogino did shady business and he knew it. And he also knew if it had been any other person his words would have been enough to convince them that nothing was wrong. But Ishigami was not someone who plays such games. And while at first sight that seems like an easy exploit, Ogino was legit terrified of Ishigami, because Ishigami would have nothing to lose if he would go for an even more violent or sneaky approach in his idea (needless to say the notion that Ishigami was afraid of hurting Otomo couldn't really land with him). While it was Kaguya who seems to have used her influence to banish the Ogino family, Ishigami's refusal to apologize was the real torment for him, and probably the reason why he broke up with Otomo shortly after. That aside, if that is how Ogino treated his gf, why was she so incredibly upset at losing him? Was she in a state of inconsent (not able to give her consent due to being drugged, drunk or unconsious), or was the 'yari circle' (iirc, 'yari' is the term used for a polearm, like a spear, which to me makes it sound like a euphenism for a gangbang due to the innuendo with 'pole') merely being planned while the photo of Otomo was taken during more 'normal' sex?

@@the_tactician9858 I think Ogino simply didn't get far due to fear that Ishigami had caught him in the act. Ootomo probably did have sex with Ogino, but the situation escalated before she was pimped out. So from her point of view she had no idea of Ogino's intentions. IMO to this day Ogino remains as one of the most despicable character Aka has created in this universe, at least until Oshi no Ko timeline. This is only my speculations but I can imagine Ogino's family was also pretty messed up, prompting the School Council to go to the extreme with their banishment of them.

Tsubame will be an important character for Ishigami later on, especially in terms of his growth. Not to take away anything from Miyuki & Kaguya, Ishigami's character arc is the most complete among the student council, for me personally.
