Kuzan is the one marine admiral who has real sense of justice. He know luffy is a pirate and one who could be very dangerous but he sees that luffy is not a regular pirate though. A quote and scene that perfectly describes the New World: When Luffy and Zoro ask about sky island in that bar, everyone laughs at them and attacks them. As I see it, Luffy back then gave Zoro the order not to attack, because those men were lesser pirates, they were simply not worth bothering with if they attacked you. Yes, Funkfreed, Spandam's sword, is a sword that ate an elephant fruit, but there was actually an earlier hint about this, all the way in Alabasta. Mr. 4's baseball-bomb shooting dog cannon thing was also a gun that ate the dog-dog fruit. I believe Ms. Merry Christmas hints that some top scientist developed a method, but we don't get Vegapunk's name dropped yet.

So, the reason luffy ended up in the barrel, is that on his first day out at sea, he set sail in a dinghy, and ended up rowing it toward a whirlpool, so, to survive, he emptied out a barrel he had and stuffed himself in it so that he could survive it. He then ended up sleeping until he was found by alvidas crew.

You are wrong, Aokiji doesn't want Robin to succeed. He just wants her life to play out. As he had said 20 years ago when Ohara got destoryed, if Robin wanted to commit suicide the next day, she was free to do so. But, in his own mind, Aokiji thought he owed it to Saul to let Robin's life play out. Also, Jack, now you have started seeing people in the Navy who are not totally evil or follow absolute justice (like Lucci), people like Garp, Aokiji and Coby.
