I think the beginning of this arc is good as well as the Laboon/Brook stuff, but the pacing against fighting Oars and Gecko Moria was super slow. And Moria was a subpar big bad/final boss. Other than that, Thriller Bark was pretty good.

Considering Luffy's full past, there was no way he could ever abandon someone to live so completely isolated like that. The moment Brook said it had been decades since he had seen another living person there was no way Luffy wouldn't get him to join his crew and save him from that loneliness. It's like meeting someone actively living through your worst nightmare, of course you would help them.
