Photographer Ishiuchi Miyako discusses the inspiration behind her series Scars (1991-2003), which features closeup pictures of these traces of bodily trauma. She compares scars to old photographs and considers them powerful testaments to a person’s survival.

Ishiuchi really got it nailed with her perception of a scar and time. She explained it with very well despite it being complex like...she basically simplified it while maintaining the artistic essence. Not really trying to be deep here lol just appreciating the way she says things and what her work is about.
