Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas joins the First Take crew and shares a laugh at the expense of Stephen A. Smith, who left Magic Johnson off his Stephen’s A-List of his all-time NBA All-Star team. Thomas says Stephen A. is used to the friendly, nice Magic - but last night he met Earvin. Thomas details Magic’s intelligence and skills on the floor, and says LeBron James is the closest to being a contemporary Magic Johnson.

The thing with jordan he had crappy coaches and always played well...it was pippen becoming better...cause grant was already good out the gate better than pippen but everyone thinks pippen his first few years was the 90s pippen..oh no...he was a 12 point 3 assists 4 rebound man that turn into a 22 6 rebound 5 assists man...yes jordan averaged more assists than pippen but I wont go there

It's the Same vice versa too tho. Who was Phil w/o MJ& Scottie - Kobe/Shaq or even Kobe&Gasol? That's my only problem with what Isiah said. It's a partnership. Both the coaches and the greats build their resume together. Chuck daly definitely wouldn't be a HoF coach w/o the badboys(Isiah-Joe-Dennis-Agguire etc) or pat w/o Kareem&Magic etc etc Hell, Red auebach had MvP candidite Bob cousy pre-russell and even he couldn't get over the hump. Case in point, it's a *partnership.* But I agree with everything else. That's a positive check mark for Lebron james.

@@dusk6159 You have to realize one thing. It was Isiah had a lot to do with drafting Rodman at #27 in the second round. They took Sally first round. Helped influence the trade of Kent Benson & Kelly Tripuka for Andrian Dantley. So it was Isiah who helped form the team. Isiah could have been a much more proficient scorer but he sacrificed that to be a total team player. No body ever in the NBA could handle the ball like Isiah. Impossible to take the ball from him. MJ was asked who was the hardest person to ever guard & without hesitation said over & over Isiah was.

@@ced9938 Wilt holds the record for most blocked shots in a game @ 23..25 unofficially. No one will ever do that not even the all time leader in blocks Hakeem and especially not Bill Russell. Russell's aggression on the defensive end might be unmatched but his presence is even to Wilt and that might be questionable!? Wilt by far beats anyone, without, being intimidating. It just so happens that when he started playing the league didn't record blocks.

Wilt played in a different time where stats were inflated. Im not too gullible to believe Wilt could do that in the modern NBA. Dont forget Wilt, 6'8 Bill Russell, Nate Thurmond, Elgin Baylor, Jerry Lucas, Walt Bellamy, Bob Pettit, Wes Unseld. All had 20 reb seasons. All of them did it in the 1950s-60s. How many modern NBA players averaged above 17 rebs? 2, Dennis Rodman and Moses Malone. You expect me to believe that in 50 years no player has had a 20 reb season when like 8 guys in the 60s were doing it on the regular? Sounds like some bull to me. Those guys definitely wouldnt be able do that now a days. Thats why 1975 is the cut off from inflated numbers to real competition. People had to be missing a lot back in the day and not defending rebs

@frantzellister5715
@frantzellister5715 5 жыл бұрын
Because no one is paying attention to the actual team. Everyone is choosing players whom they believe were the best at their positions. Fine. That does not make for the greatest all-time team. No offense to Magic (I watched him play) but he can't do what Curry does. And that's not to rip on Magic in any way, but think about who he'd play with? Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Shaq, Hakeem Olajuwon, Kareem Abdul Jabar (and yes I know they played together) Kobe Bryant, LeBron James--most of them with the exception of Hakeem are ball dominant players who wouldn't mesh well with a point guard who dictates the pace of the game. Curry is comfortable playing off ball--something Magic didn't really do. I actually Magic and Curry together would've been a great pairing, but if we have to use strict positions then I'd choose curry because of his off ball movements and his shooting prowess. If we were choosing a fantasy team I'd choose: (1) Stephen Curry (2) Klay Thompson (3) Michael Jordan (4) Larry Bird/Tim Duncan (5) Hakeem Olajuwon. And I pit them against any all-time great team, and they'd win because they're contributions on the floor are unmatched.
