Took a vacation within our vacation. Great day trip 20 minutes away from Cancun. Punta Sur and Playa Norte are must visit destinations. Isla Mujeres must be out you Mexico bucket list.

No cc info, all they did was hold onto my driver's license until I returned the cart. Rui Cancun is fun I like the pools and having breakfast beach side at their buffet restaurant.

I'm going to Cancun in a few weeks and I want to check out Isla Mujeres. However, I'm traveling alone so I'm a little concerned about traveling via public transport even though I would like to enjoy that experience. Do you think it's safe for a solo female traveler to go there alone and rent a golf cart?

Yes I would say it's safe. The locals are always friendly and helpful and there is always tourist around. Of course like anywhere it's always good to stay alert and exercise caution. Check out Facebook, they have solo traveler groups for tips, tricks, and recommendations.

How early should you get there ?

Honestly the sooner the better, that way you take the island in and not have to rush. We took the 10:30am ferry at Tortuga and the trip is about 25-30 min. Wish we would of had more time to lounge on the beach. We didn't want to take the last ferry back cause it's usually packed and if you don't get a seat your stranded on the island unless you find a private boat back.
