I believe that God will respect and honour your conversion, but it will be far better to become baptised. You may have to travel somewhere to achieve it. Many will insist on a period of preparation and instruction, but some may not. Pray that you may be led to your spiritual father.

I can't get over the intellectual capacity and comprehensive spiritual knowledge of St John of Damascus. To successfully argue against Islam using only the Koran is spiritual genius. And he did it all out of such love for his fellow man, that people would not fall into the heresy of Islam and lose their souls, not in order to demonstrate his own intellectual prowess. These were cassette taps I received in 1995. I met the monks back then from the monastery in Alaska and was genuinely impressed with their love of God. You only worship the Plenipotent, something that is incapable of at least one thing.

When I was 17 years old I discovered the wisdom of the resurrection of Jesus our Lord. The light of joy that He was Risen went on inside of me. What a revelation. I always thought of the sufferings of the Savior, but never understood or felt the impact of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus on my faith or experience in His grace, until then. Thank you so much for this and your other content. It is inspiring and helping me and my family as we embrace the orthodox faith. My journey to Orthodoxy was actually a result of my interest in Christian apologetics and Islam. Praise God for leading me to the fullness of the faith. St. John of Damascus is such an important resource because he was engaging with early Islam, and can help us see it as it really was, rather than all the changes it has gone through over the last 1400 years or so. St. John pray for us to stay faithful to Christ, and pray for all those bewitched by the lies and horrific practices of Islam.

Thank you, Trisagion Films! This is the first Saint that I really can identify with, besides St. Paul (whom I dreamed about once-does that make him my patron Saint?). I am very concerned with the war in Syria and pray for the innocent civilians there, under attack from merciless terrorists and their "powerful" backers who are trying to destroy Syria, one of the homelands of Christianity. Oh, Saint John of Damascus, pray for the Syrian people!

Your patron saint is who ever you were named after at baptism. I am glad you felt a connection with saint John of Damascus, he truly is a hero for the Orthodox faith as he lived in very difficult times and under less than ideal conditions.

@@Trisagionfilms Yes, indeed, as we do today! (Lord, give us faith!) Now, dear Trisagion films, I am not Orthodox. I was baptized as a child (12 yrs old), on my profession of faith, but they don't teach anything about Saints or Name days, and know nothing about Church tradition and very little of Church history,. They don't give anybody a Saint name upon baptism. When I had the dream about St. Paul, I had been reading the book of Acts. (I didn't much like St. Paul because of some of his remarks about women-can't remember what.) Anyway, in the dream he just appeared (a short bald guy, I knew he was St. Paul) and he said "We were going to Antioch". He looked like he knew I didn't like him, sort of humble and sad, and I felt sorry for him. So then I started liking him. I don't know what he meant by his comment in the dream. Oh, I did convert to Catholicism about 4 years ago, but the priest was mean to everybody (yelled at his secretary, plus other stuff) so I quit going after a couple of years. But I took the name "Mary" at my confirmation, or whatever they call it. About a year ago, I started studying Orthodoxy online, I don't know how I stumbled across Orthodoxy, probably from some beautiful chants. Now I am convinced that the Orthodox Church is the original, true Church. (Yes, I know about the schism, the filioque, all the very important issues.)

I just discovered this channel and started with ~Abba Moses The Ethiopian 🙏🙏 I am approx half jew in ancestry (maybe a little less) But my religion is Tibetan buddhist which also has many great saints who meditated in caves in high Tibetan mountains facing extreme weather, wild animals , bandits , demons and their own minds ..I have the utmost respect and love for ~Jesus of Nazareth and I love orthodoxy and the great saints that come from it. I am not so much a fan of islam or judaism. Although I have never stepped foot in a synagogue , I have in many mosques, churches and temples. Christianity to me of all 3 Abrahamic faiths is the only one that I truly like. But I was born and brought up as a Tibetan Buddhist & thats what I still am. Bless you,, I truly Love these videos .. John's book is called, "The Heresies of the Ishmaelites". Islam began as a non trinitarian Christian heresy akin to Arianism. The quran began as non trinitarian homilies. The original Arabic didn't have diacritical marks as it didn't exist in the young language as of yet. The language at the time only consisted of consonants no vowels and subsequently, left multiple words for every combination of letters leaving only context and personal bias for understanding of text. The originally non trinitarian Christian Abassid dynasty in the 8th century began with minted coins featuring Christian crosses with their caliph (king), won battles against the orthodox Byzantine Christians, added diacritical marks (vowels) into the text and changed or marked over quran to make the text align with their evolving (fabricated) beliefs. The coins then dropped the Christian crosses and began adopting Islamic symbolism. The coins don't lie. The Islamic belief system began to be established over 100 years after the purported death of MHMD (blessed or anointed one). Muhammad is not in the original quran; only MHMD, a title. These are all facts supported by actual historical evidence. There is currently a "quran" in process that removes current diacritical marks, as they didn't exist when the quran was written, and recreates the quranic non trinitarian Christian book of homilies that it began as. The scholarly work is still in progress and very new but will become more prevalent in the coming years. May the LORD Jesus bless and keep you.
