watching the Islam vs Alex fight for the 4th time I realized the reason he wasn't able to control Alex was partly because for some reason he didn't use the Dagestani Handcuff(or wrist control as wrestlers/american wrestlers call it)which was strange, him and Khabib used it all the time but for some reason Islam forgot about it and Alex every time posted on his arm and stood up

@@jago3 his takedowns were more brutish than his usual technical and chill self, I think he kinda fought emotional when he went for takedown, like he looked like he was trying to overpower Alex to the ground, and it was successful at taking him down but without the wrist control he couldn't keep him on the ground, what I mean is I don't think he was ignoring wrist control on purpose, I think he just forgot about it which is strange

looked like he put too much focus on knocking Volk out like he said he would want to do, instead had he used all that energy in his usual game, the fight wouldnt have been that close. Yes, to hold down a shorter opponent would be tougher than holding down the same height opponents, but I still think he would have been able to do a much better job on the ground had he not tried to stand and bang against one of the best strikers in UFC.

He was more hurt when Australian commission didn't give proper time for rehydration and shortened it by 12 hrs .. Volk was going up 10 pounds and cut less so he had no problem and he was 2lbs heavier than Islam on fight day. Still 49-46.
