Hey guys, the reason no one is allowed to stay in their cars is the vehicle deck is one of the most likely places a fire will break out and would be too slow to evacuate properly. Instead if there is a fire, crew assume the deck is completely vacant and will flood the deck with fire suppressant which suffocates the fire but also suffocates everything else, otherwise they will release CO2 which displaces all the oxygen and again will suffocate everything. Please stay safe out there folks!

Is there a way you can add a fixed lock box in your van (somewhere we don't know about) and lock your gear in that when you go to the beach? I just suggested the same thing. I've seen videos of other vanlifers with safes/lockboxes bolted inside the cabinets. Typically right into the van metal OR at least into cabinets that are pretty impossible to rip apart. Most of them hide the safe in the cabinets. Personally though, I just kinda feel like having the safe in the open might stop potential thief from even riffling through the cabinets. Idk, which is best.

Tip for your garlic. When I do that I crush the clove, put it in a spoonful of honey, and then take it! I mostly swallow it whole so I dont have to taste it or smell like it.

U guys may need to invest in a heavy duty safe and bolt to the van. It may not be the battery but if u guys don't have a portable battery charger, please get one. I got one a month ago. It is also a small battery charger in case my solar batteries run out I can use it for the phone or fan. Hope u guys are ok. Make us worry for a whole week...

Yeah your battery seems to be in good shape judging by when he went to turn on the ignition because all the lights lit up very well judging by the video if it was your battery they would’ve been a lot dimmer so yeah if you tap the starter with a hammer trying to turn it over at the same time it’s quite possible it would start up 50-50 chance

As a kid I once read that face muscles recognize when they are making a smile and even if it's fake the brain reads it as a smile and releases endorphins which in turn does make you happy. I've lived by it since then and when I'm feeling the most down is when I force a smile and then I literally feel 10x better

Quick check with no equipment. With headlights on if you try to start & they go really dim Likely battery .If no change at all likely starter . In normal operation slight dimming with starter engaged . If lights are bright & dont dim when starting then likely starter or starter solenoid is issue

You can try shifting it into neutral while holding the key in the crank position if it is the nuetral safety switch. If it really is a starter problem you can usually get another start or two by hitting the main starter body with something heavy like a hammer or a tire iron, again while holding the key in crank mode. Edit- look forward to seeing more. Great days and safe travels to you !

DON'T WORRY. Your car problem is easy to fix, and is supposed to be a safety feature of older automatics when they are moved without the engine on. Reset the BC by removing the negative cable (black or blue) from the battery and wiring/bridging it to the plus pole for 5 minutes. Mount back the negative cable to the battery. Start. Drive off to your next adventure!

I had a friend who worked for Blackwater and was in middle of a gunfight where a woman found herself caught in the middle. She was yards away from him. He wanted to offer her comfort in some way , so smiled at her for reassurance. She returned his smile. A beautiful story til this poor soldier shared it with his broken wife who told him he was gross for being able to smile in that moment. He shared his story seeking to know if indeed he had done something precious or awful” A smile for the comfort of others is never wrong!

As a Sprinter owner something very similar happened to me. Park up, take the keys out, return and dash lights come on and no starting sound at all. I found out two possible reasons, and things not to do. 1. DO NOT remove your keys in superfast fashion - turn off and pull out the keys. 2. Put the keys in, move the gear stick from park, up and down to drive, and then RECLICK it back into PARK. Remove key. Then put key back in and it started. I think either the van still thinks it is in Park - and you need to force it back into Park and it resets, and whipping the key out as you park up sometimes does not let the system 'close down' - but you can get the key out. Not sure if thats your problem, but scared me the first time I was in a hurry to park up. Never happened again. ;)

yep looking at 16:09 - into park and grabbing the key superfast. Not sure if that is the issue you have - but THAT would cause my van not to start as you describe. Putting key in, and clicking it through the gears, with fut on the brake - and move it back up to Park. Wait a second then remove key. Then ALL back to normal. I HOPE that its as simple as that for you. All the best.
