This and Skull Cave are my number 1 and 1b pieces for 2021. Both are absolutely incredible in their own ways. Like you, I'm also really surprised that Lemax released both of these pieces during the same year. They easily could have made each the cornerstone of two different years. I'm not complaining, but business wise, I'm shocked.

Best piece by far this year, in my opinion. Might even be one of my favorite of all time, and right now it is shaping up to be that. Lighting is great, fog is great, animation is nice (really like the tree) , piece has a solid composition, details are incredible- what more could you ask for? (sound... but is it really necessary- might change the ambiance of the piece which we don’t want, and may not even be possible with the fog mechanism?). This is also probably your most anticipated review of the year, and you knocked it out of the park. Incredible job and incredible piece. PS: Interestingly enough, on the Michael’s catalog itself, this piece has the “sound” icon. Maybe it initially was planned to have sound?

Hey Bread Guy, I actually noticed that too in the catalog and my guess is that it's just an error with the catalog maker that erroneously assumed it had sound just because the pieces in this size/price range usually do. Heck, I assumed it had sound! That sound, no, sound isn't necessary and it would not have been worth the added price IMO. Lemax released several all-timer pieces (defined by me as ones that when they go out of production will fetch VERY high prices in future years) and the top two are the foggers. I'm looking forward to the hotel and witch tower this year, though to see where everything falls in. Jacks was worth the wait and I'm glad you enjoy yours!

Doug This is Rick in Houston, i talked to you about 3 years ago and said wouldn't it be cool if Lemax could make it fog around the spooky mansions with lighting?? You said yeah and now look! It would still be cool a mansion with fog and lighting! Please Lemax make a working roller coaster to last... Ive given up on Mr. Christmas roller coasters at 250.a pop that last only a few days! Im on my 4th one and its broke! Thanks Doug.

Mine was shipped in a box that had zero packing in it and the corner was smushed in. It's a wonder that Jack's wasn't damaged in transit, given it's also been insanely hot outside which isn't good for the glue. All of the delays/shipping aside, the piece itself is stellar and I'm happy to have it in my collection! I'm glad yours arrived fine too despite the box!

I love this. This was the main building I wanted to get this year, but like you said it has been sold out everywhere. All locals stores don't have it and even online shopping says its sold out. Same for Skull Cave Quarry. Maybe later on I'll find one, but I'm starting to lose hope.

Great video. Few concerns. Distilled water caused issues w mine running. Had to use regular water. Also. I had a few casting holes that caused water slippage. Had to use super glue to plug.

I wanted this soo bad since I first had seen it. I think on one of your videos for the "upcoming " Spooky Town building videos. I ordered this 2 different times and each time it got canceled . I even begged people on the FB groups to please find me one ,with no luck, after the total disappointment of not being able to find one.... Longer story short, I FINALLY got my order in from Michael's and before I knew it , it was here 🥰 Talk about GORGEOUS! WOW ! It truly is one of the Best pieces . Great review, Doug. You make them look fantastic. Personally, I'd go Skull Cave over this. I think I'm more gruesome than whimsical in my displays, plus around $30 cheaper. But they both rock!

Wow! I didn't realize the fogging pieces were so big! It's pretty neat, but I think I prefer the quarry. The fog ones make me kind of hesitant because you'd have to pull it out of your village to refill it, and my village is never sturdy enough to be doing that.

I really enjoy hearing opinions on Jacks vs. Skull Cave. It's fun. I've got a lot of opinions on this to for a future video :) As for your concern with the fogging pieces, I wouldn't worry. You can easily fill them up with a small cup. They may just take a cup or two if you are using a small mouth-wash style paper cup. You don't have to use a big jug!

I do love that sign. I do want to get this piece, the only reason I'm debating is because of the fog. I know I could always leave the fog off. I have a ton of cards in my house. I'd worry that it fogging might warp my cards (if fogging even does that).

Great review!! As always and usually right inline with my opinion- would had liked to have seen the skull cave next to it… just for comparison but I will eventuality get the skull cave to go along with this one, if ever in stock. I snagged this one as they were putting up the only two they had. And looked on my Michael’s APP and a 40% popped up so rushed to counter - only 40% I’ve seen as of yet. Agree,I’m still a little iffy on the moving parts- to which all came broken new, but it has eventually grown on me - especially with the lighting they used. And kids like the moving parts, so it is what it is!!

Spooky Villages, You know what kind of sparked for me when you talked about this piece not needing animation, maybe Lemax made the animated pieces magnetic for a reason, giving one the choice to simply not attach them, so you can have this piece not animated. Food for thought :) vgv

I have a question about this piece and I think you're the only person that can help. I recently bought this for cheap as it had a few bits broken off and the movement mechanism is very loud. I've opened it up to try and figure out why it's so loud and can't do anything about it so I wanted to ask do you think I could just cut the wires to the motor? The light wires are a different colour so don't think cutting will affect that. I don't mind having no movement on the piece just happy to have the lighting. Any help would be appreciated

This piece and the fogger are known to be very temperamental this year. If you are having issues you could always return it while you can and hten next year when its part of the regular line, snag one!

Same problem here. 💩 I made sure the display is level and the cap is securely attached over the wick. Otherwise I love this piece and replacing it won’t be possible since it’s sold out at Michaels.

I actually wound up paying about 100 dollars for mine due to getting hosed and having to use a 20 percent off coupon so if you find for under 100 dollars shipped, that's not really paying anything outrageous. I know Michaels has been in and out of stock online with these so hopefully they come back in stock!

They ruined this piece with those ridiculous spinning pumpkin guys in cut off jeans. I will tell you right now, these two fogging pieces will not make it, they will not mist the way that they should when they are first used. The wicking mechanism should have a misting sound coming out of it with two major streams that completely put a haze over the inside of the cave while also creating tons of condensation in front of it, if it’s not creating a lot of condensation, then it’s not working as it should. I’ve had nothing but issues with mine after day four, the wicking mechanism breaks down meaning: the cap loses its magnets that will eventually have to be glued back into their slots in order to secure the cap tightly for it to mist. If the cap isn’t secure, it’s not going to mist. I also feel the drawer is never tightly closed in order for it to mist as it should as well. This is a huge problem with this piece. Another issue are the magnets that are falling out of their circle spots underneath of the drawer and will have to be glued back in also. Even when the drawer is properly closed with the smooth suction of the magnets, it’s still not firmly closed. This is completely faulty of Lemax. I gave up on it after messing around with it for two days. I’ll get it to fog really good while hearing the misting sound for only five seconds then it stops and it’s only slowly releasing a thin mist. This is the worst fogging mechanism I’ve seen. Point blank is just cheaply made. One of their cabins from last year had the exact same problem. It stopped working for me on day two so I knew these foggers were going to be an issue. I was hoping Lemax changed it so they didn’t have problems, however they didn’t. I do like the cave in this quarry so I went and ordered a misting fogger off Amazon.

The isle of doom was extremely loud when it fogged, but at least it was a realistic fogging mechanism. This wicking mechanism with that cap is junk, and you will just assume yours works because it’s providing a very very very thin mist and you’ll accept that.
