By Christian philosophy, no one can kill anyone, but also no one has the right to be sustained by others. It makes sense that you HELP and raise others, that help the elderly or those in need. Sustained the life of a person that is either dead in the brain, which is part of the soul, or wishes to die to avoid suffering, is something that should be decided by the individual or the family if the individual can not decide. Anything done with a government is against God, God is against any King, president or "prime minister", that is a sin, actually.

As a Catholic, this matter is not a state matter, legalizing it is less evil than making it illegal. It should be regulated by the church and only in church ways, so not making people go to jail for it. The family should decide. Also, it is very unlikely that Christ would judge a family since in a natural world, a human being that is not able to live in a natural way, that is not sustained by machines would not live. Christians need to not let government regulate this, it should be by Christian law and then the law should be also Christians which means if a family decides to do it, it's acceptable and only GOD will judge. In other words, should not be legal nor illegal.

It's an immensely morally complex issue, isn't it? With many specific cases which are morally grey. I wish the Christian Institute could inform us of some borderline cases to encourage us to think through the issues from a Biblical perspective, and enable us as Christians to agree a collective and constructive approach, rather than presenting it as more black and white than it tends to be in many cases. Oh, and on a lighter note, in my adolescence I used to think that the term euthanasia referred to people in their late teens suffering from a problem with their noses......

⁠@@timpearson5086, there is such a thing as RIGHT , AND WRONG. THE Lord Jesus Christ gave us TEN COMMANDMENTS. One is : THOU SHALT NOT KILL. Also : Psalm 106 verse 36. Serving the pagans’ idols, they found themselves trapped into sacrificing their own sons and daughters to demons. They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, offering them to the idols of Canaan, they polluted the country with blood. They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a whore. The Lord’s anger blazed out at his people, he came to loathe his heirs. He handed them over to the pagans, those who hated them became their masters; their enemies tyrannised over them, crushing them under their rule. Time and again he rescued them, but they went on defying him deliberately, and plunging deeper into wickedness; even so, he took pity on their distress each time he heard them calling. Abortion and euthanasia are an abomination to the one true living God. So called : Mercy Killing, Assisted Dying, Dying with Dignity are euphemisms for what is LOATHFUL TO ALMIGHTY GOD. 4 things which are loathful to Almighty God 1 oppression of the poor. 2 withholding the labourer’s wage. 3 the shedding of innocent blood 4 sodomy
