Notes from this video 43:40 ⭕RELATION FROM PREVIOUS SURAH (al maoon) In the previous surah Allah s.w.t mentioned the 4 attributes of the leader of quraish (or ppl in general) and those attributes are contrasted in this surah 📍MAOON: 1:Cheapness /miserly بخل 2:being careless about salah 3:showoff in prayer 4:the forbid in even the smallest favour (they dont even give the smallest stuff which they are supposed to) 5: the acts/description of the one who is the enemy. (Al abtar:in kauthar) 📍KAUTHAR: 1:We have given you the abundant good (You should give) 2: be constant in the prayer (fasallili) 3: pray for your lord (fasallili RABBIKA) 4:and sacrifice/sacrifice an animal قربانی (wanhar) and ofc it requires money and you are ordered to give sadaqah from the flesh of the slaughtered animal. 5: talking about enemy in 3 ayyah ⭕MEANING OF KAUTHAR (Just adding it here so it is understandable what this word means cz it will be used alot | short description) Two rivers :One in jannah is named kauthar :One in the entrance of jannah :It means so many other things :The Abundant good 🔻LIST OF MEANINGS What are the kauthar? (According to certain ayyahs of Qur'an) -*SURAH duha Allah s.w.t says in surah duha "He did not say good bye to you and he is not displeased" Now in this ayyah Allah s.w.t did not say "displeased with you" ( ma wadd a ka rabuka wa ma kala "ka") he did not use the pronoun for prophet s.a.w with the negative word cz a good does not have negative intentions but being displeased does contain negative intentions bcz he loves the prophet s.a.w he did not say "displeased with you" but rather "displeased" to reduce the negative effect upon hearing it. Even tho the ayyah clearly sates that Allah did not say good bye he is not angry. Thats his love for prophet Muhammad s.a.w . Al-kauthar. And then he s.w.t said "What is at the end is better for you than what is at the beginning" another gift. Al kauthar And "No doubt about it (i swear) very soon your master will grant you alot. That you will be pleased" ALLAH s.w.t will give him s.a.w so much until he s.a.w is pleased. And Prophet s.a.w said i wont be pleased until all my u.mah is saved (this is how much he loves us) "Did not he find you an Orphan and gave u a shelter?" "He found u in a state where u were desperately looking and gave u guidance" "And he found u in desperate financial need and he made u free if need" -*SURAH Alm nashrah " Did not we open your chest for you? (The quran fits in your hearts) "We removed your burden from you that was breaking your back" "We alleviated your mention for you" -*SURAH balad "I swear by the city" (The city where prophet s.a.w was born) ALL/EACH OF THESE GIFTS ARE MORE VALUABLE THAN THE ENTIRE WORLD AND ITS WORTH. So you (prophet s.a.w) should remain busy in his worshiping. 3 ayyah of kauthar (about praying and the sacrificing of animals) ⭕1 AYYAH (VERSE) 🔻 اعطا -First verb in the ayyah -Other synonyms :Wahaba (hiba) :Ita :I'ta (used in this verse) WAHABA Means to give a huge gift. Example: When we ask Allah to give us tranquility from our spouses and our children then this is a big gift ITA to give but its not absolute. You are giving something but u can take back second implication: you are giving something but it comes with responsibility I'TA (used in this verse) In arabic words have root letters and sometimes the sequence of two root letters is shuffled and the meaning are connected For example: Shukr شکر (gratefullness) Shirk شرک There is a contrast in these word. This word has ع ط و letters I'ta means to obey,to follow, to listen carefully. So i'ta means "You give someone something bcz they have been obedient" So u give i'ta bcz of i'ta Tha means that Allah is pleased with the Messanger so he gave him s.a.w a gift.(kauthar) I'ta means a favor that cannot be taken back Its like "Enjoy these gifts" I'ta is not given to someone as a paycheck bcz they have completed thier job. Thats is "a'jr" is arabic. I'ta is a gift. 🔸Past tense "Inna a'tainaka" (We already gave you) //Why use a past tense when talking about future? _First benefit: The guarantee is associated with the past cz we r sure about the oast and we dont know what will happen in the future so it was thier way (arabs way) to show certainty in thier sentence to use past tense like: "It is a sure as yesterday" So Allah s.w.t uses a past tense to stress on the fact that this kauthar has been guaranteed. _Second benefit: The favor is guaranteed and complete If we say "I learn arabic" It means we are still learning But if we say "I learned arabic" It means that we have completed learning it 🔻 کوثر That is a hyperbolized statement Hyperbole: to say something in a very strong way. You did not leave truth and never entered into falsehood. To empower a word. Exaggeration: to go beyond truth and enter the realm of statement E.g: someone slapped someone and there is an argument happening. One kid went out and announced that there a severe fight happening (hyperbolized) and second kid cones out and say that they both fought each other so bad that now they are in hospital (exaggeration) QURAN never exaggerated anything.that is the difference between hyperbolizing and exaggeration which needed to be cleared. 🔸AL KAUTHAR and KATHEER KAUTHAR:Is incredible amounts of something it has a و in it KATHEER: it has a ی in it and in arabic a و is stronger than a ی. It also means aloot. The word "katheer" in on itslef means alot but Allah s.w.t used "kauthar" to make that word alot times another alot. Like alooooooooooot 🔸KAUTHAR is used for something that is alot (in amount) and valuable this word can only be used for positive. the "alot" can only be made out of positive and good things . cz generally "alot" can contain good and bad things like : i taught u alot. we don't know how many of the teaching were good and how many were bad. but KAUTHAR only means good how ever KATHEER can mean good or bad 🔸"AL"-kauthar Some scholars say that bcz if "al" before it means "the" (the kauthar) so it only is talking about one thing which is the lake of jannah. The hawd of jannah BUT In arabic, if the adjective is mentioned without a noun then the adjective could mean/refer to many things even if the "al" (the) is used.Allah is saying "plenty/alot" (kauthar) is not a noun but an adjective. And no noun is mentioned so the "alot" can be many things. Allah s.w.t did not put a limit to what he is going to give his messanger s.a.w subhanallah! 🔻 اِنا (inaa) The sentence is grammatically complete even without this word "We gave you the abundant good" (without inna). The "we" is already in the word "a'taina" but by adding "inna" which also means "we" (bcz of the ن)the translation becomes "Certainly we, we gave you the abundant good" 🔸This is the means by which he is reminding us of something which we can easily forget (It is the case of "Ihtimaam" :arabic)And To highlight that it is allah s.w.t ,ALLAH S.W.T who gave you these goods. 🔸This word "inna" is also important bcz "we" in arabic is also "nahnu" but inna grammatically has "harf at tawweed" it is used to remove doubt. 🔸2 opinions . Makhi or madni MAKHI Majority of the scholars believe that this surah is makhi Prophet s.a.w in Mecca, is dealing with people who constantly remind him what he does not have. They would talk about prophet s.a.w has no wealth., his sons died and abu jahl was dancing in the streets that the legacy/name of Muhammad will not be continued, they would talk about his s.a.w lack of backing (he s.a.w was orphan )and this surah was revealed to tell prophet s.a.w that "No doubt about it (inna) we have given u the abundant good" 🔻Conclusion of first ayyah 🔸Ikhtisas ALLAH S.W.T is saying that no doubt about it WE, WE have given YOU the ABUNDANT GOOD. And the only one, the only ONE who can take it away from you is us. But we are bot going to do that cz that i'ta not ita. So enjoy these gifts.
