What a beautiful song, makes me want to see the movie. 1932 was the depth of the depression when my dad was 22 and mom was 17. I remember them dancing to tunes like this in our living room. Miss those growing up years!

Not only does LOVE ME TONIGHT have a wonderful (original!) score by Rodgers and Hart, but also a very funny, pre-Code naughty script. (That thud of the ladder at the end of 'Isn't It Romantic?" should give you a clue.) Mamoulian went on to direct on Broadway PORGY AND BESS, OKLAHOMA!, and CAROUSEL. A lot of critics consider LOVE ME TONIGHT the greatest American film musical.

One of my favourite musicals. Movies had been talking for long when Love Me Tonight 1932, was made. Early musicals were static because of the recording equipment but director Reuben Mamoulian knew how to film a musical and this section was innovative and provided a link between the future lovers. This film is witty, stylish and risqué with a superb cast. One of the best musicals ever made

My favorite song of all time. First heard it in "Sabrina" when I was an eleven-year-old boy.

Classic! I love the way the tune starts with Mr. Chevalier, gets passed through several people (and versions) and ends up reaching Ms. MacDonald, as though their love was carried with it.

Michael Feinstein used the opening Maurice sings as the second verse of his beautiful late 80’s recording.
