Wang is a guy who plays this sport as hobby and is playing Wyatt Stone and John Isner on Championship Court. I'm glad he cheered himself up, celebrated, yelled and screamed. I'd be pretty excited about that too. Not to mention, brought them to 3 games and won. Get the stick out your butts and stop being so uptight, Two no names crushed Isner's debut.

Commentators were like Isner's parents. They were overly supportive of Isner and Isner only. I wish they cared more about Pickleball by other players than just him

I get your point but it was his first tournament and they want to bring attention to him, because it’s exciting to see such a good tennis player on tour

Wang is playing table tennis style through and through. He should use Proton with the rubber grit on the face of paddle

Such a difference between this level and the top players. This was like watching an average 4.5 match.

Isner's serve should be way more spinny and meaner. His waist is so much higher, can really whip some legal high deep topspin bombs. I hope he's working on that

Attar seemed like he played under pressure early part of the 1st set.

I guess in ping pong it’s super chill to yell after every point you win even when your opponent makes an unforced error? Super annoying…

This comment section is Anal, you gotta hype yourself up when your playing cc, I know I would, people have different play styles, and personalities, all you old people can be quiet and keep watching from home

"hyping yourself up" can be done in many different ways that don't involve screaming like a lunatic. He's a professional and an adult, he should act like it

I played high level tennis and table tennis, but Wang's table tennis bias won't let him play his full potential in pickleball. The choked up grip gives away reach and power. The pro is limited while the cons are just too much. Pickleball is closest to tennis, between tennis, ping pong, and badminton.

I agree, higher ranked players will destroy him

That forehand loop looks out of place too. PB paddles don't have much grip. You waste a bit of energy with that brushing motion. Weird backhand technique at the net too. He does the table tennis flick block instead of the normal PB rolling and dumped quite a few to the net (probably due to not much grip with the paddle). Nevertheless, he probably destroys me with my textbook techniques, so whatever works for you, works for you.

Agreed but I hope he doesn’t change it. It’s cool to see a new style

I think Wang flexes between really high up vs an index on the beginning of the throat, depending on court position - premature to summarize his full potential? - also just because Ben's style has been gospel to many doesn't mean its the high water mark for the sport, there's probably a lot of unknown talents who play differently, the sport/PPA need variety outside of him/ALW/Jack Sock ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

I wouldn't really agree with that, Callan Dawson is a good pro that uses the Table Tennis grip, so does his dad Steve Dawson. Different strokes for different folks. Until we see you on Pickleball TV, then I think he did pretty good.

The dude who was cheering after almost every point they won really got on my nerves. I get that in the end they were in a close game but act like a professional.

A player who yells and cheers at a point at the start of a game at 1-0 is a player I'll never root for. So annoying. Cheer after winning, not after every rally.

Agreed. I think Wang screaming so loud after every point is annoying. I will be cheering for his losses and yelling every miss he gets.

It's about boosting his own confidence and making the opponent's nervous. I don't think he's doing anything wrong there. Cheers

Isner freakish height without his overhand serve from tennis is not good for pickleball. His ground strokes are bad
