It’s amazing how you manage with so little space. I have about the same amount of hanging space in my bedroom, but I have other closet space and a few portable garment racks (rails) that I can use for off-season items, but they are spread over 3 stories. I’m lucky to have it because I can leave everything on hangers, which eliminates a ton of work folding, unfolding and steaming. It takes me days to do my seasonal edit and change-over, and I don’t even have to climb into an attic, good job, girl! I do have a ton of clothes now because of a big weight loss, followed by a partial COVID regain. If the weather ever cools down here, it’s October 2020, California, 37C as I’m viewing, I need to tackle my huge accumulation of clothes in 3-4 sizes, and your videos inspire me!💕

I used to have this carry on twice a year, and yes it did take all day. Now I live on my own, have five double wardrobes and so all my clothes stay hung up all the time. Decided in January that this was going to be a no buy year ( didn't know then that I wouldn't have a choice in the matter) as I have far too many clothes and it doesn't look like I going anywhere in the near future except my back garden. Hope everyone is keeping well xx

I have it all in one wardrobe as well, but I swap around every six months, just because the long sleeved tops end up at the back of the wardrobe in spring/summer and I have to change that up for autumn/winter ;)

This process is an all day event. I also switch out my wardrobe. Placed clothing also in large bins and with cedar blocks and stored in my garage. Coats I wear in winter are stored in a cooling storage to keep from shedding. We women love shoes... why! I gave 75 pairs away in Nov 19, then purchased 25 new pairs...I’ve taken an oath to myself to stop becoming a female addicted to retail. Been 30 days since I’ve purchased anything. When I see something I want, I usually find it in my closet or garage stored and forgotten. I’m learning that there’s more important things in life than just clothes.

I used to switch out my clothes seasonally, but I noticed over the years I would always forget what I even had packed and hidden away and would end up buying new seasonal clothing and forgetting about stuff I knew I loved, out of sight out of mind. Plus I was running out of places to store all the seasonal clothing, when we moved to a different city it was kinda a wake up call. I always had small closets growing up and as an adult till that move and now we have a walk in closet (tho still small by most American standards of walk-ins) but I realized I had room to literally hang up EVERYTHING for once in my life and decided I liked being able to see what all I had, so I made a decision that if I can’t keep it all In my closet and easily accessible then I have far too much. Plus I don’t have to go through the hassle of changing over my seasonal clothing and then the weather not acting appropriately .

Radio silence here yesterday 🙈. I spent all day doing my downstairs bedroom spring summer wardrobe. Today it's the charity, sale pile organization. tomorrow it's going through all of my summer clothes to give away from last year and placing my winter wardrobe in my upstairs closets. I've come to the conclusion that watching you do your closets, especially in fast motion, is much more enjoyable than watching myself do this in slow motion. 🤣🤣🤣. However, just the feeling I have simplified my life clearing out my wardrobe makes me so happy. New rule now ONE in ONE OUT!!!💕🙏 Stay well everyone💖

I like dresses and skirts but also only tend to wear them in the warmer months because it's just easier and feels more appropriate for spring/summer. Over the past year and a half or so I've bought some really pretty (to me at least) skirts and dresses, mostly from Free People and Anthropologie, and was getting so excited to wear them this summer and now I feel like we may all still be under 'stay at home' orders if we can't get our sh!t together here in America 🤦🏼♀️

Make sure you don’t store anything combustible in the attic. Nothing in plastic bags as it can spontaneously combust. Hello sweet Emma I am from Amman/Jordan and we are as well under house isolation because of the current situation that the whole world is under.The weather her is very nice we are seeing the start of spring but the nights are still chilly and in some days it becomes cold for that I am postponing the closet transition till we have a stable weather and I am dreading the ay when I have to o this because we are 4 in the family, two young men , my husband and me. It takes me usually 2 days to finish up the process. I pretty much follow your routine when switching wordrobe, it make everything a lot simpler when having a routine to follow. Hi Emma, I would really appreciate a 'clothes storage' video about how you store the clothes that aren't in your main wardrobe e.g. loft, cupboards above wardrobe, covers under bed, things in the coat rack/hallway, basement etc) . I worry about putting things in my loft because most things up there get that 'musty' smell so I mainly use it for bulky non-precious things! Do you just double wash everything (e.g. wash before you put it away, wash again when you bring it out) or have other tips about these other storage options? Thanks!
@EmmaHill4 жыл бұрын
I store everything in the tubs you saw in this video. Previously they used to stay in the basement - this is the first time I am storing them in the loft (as we just had it boarded) - which was fine so will have to see how it fairs in the loft. We don't store anything anywhere else now outside of my wardrobe and the loft 👍

Did you have much from your spring/summer tubs that you decided to sell? Maybe you are saving that for another video. The two tubs that you brought down from storage doesn't seem like I lot but I know it's deceiving; I know that from my own experience. I always think, "Oh it's not that much, only two tubs." But it gets so packed down and then you take it all out and you realize it's actually a lot! Every year. Same thing. :)

I had already detoxed a lot of that before I put it in the storage tubs but there were a few bits (not too much) 👍

@@EmmaHill good for you! I actually try to do that too at the end of every season; look at everything and decide whether it was worn enough (or at all) to justify the real estate it occupies in my closet. So much fresher in my mind right at the end of a season. Unless there was a good reason why something didn't get worn (ie. unusually chilly summer etc) then out it goes - either donated to charity or sold at the beginning of that season the following year.
