I'm guessing this just puts you into the Apple's Beta queue to get a beta version when/if Apple graces you with a Beta version for your device. And it may never come? I have the same ipad mini 2, running iOS 12.5.6. Didn't get anything yet, but I just now entered the beta. So I'm guessing it will be a while.
