Trav: "Dark Hold is useless ." Also Trav: "Why is The Skiver such a pain in the ass?" Dude, most bosses they pair together are usually weak to the same things, so Dark Hold will usually freeze whatever boss is paired with Spiral Pegasus (except for Dark Dizzy/Necrobat), so you can just freeze him near ground level and pelt him with half-charges, then, if he's not dead by the time Dark Hold runs out, he'll be nearly done, then you can focus on the other boss.

You can set actions for the bumpers. I use left bumper to dash, X to shoot, A to jump, and Y and B to change weapons. This should have been the default control scheme.

Yeah, thanks to recently marathoning the megaman zero/zx legacy collection, I always put the buster on L (even in NES megaman 1-3), dash/slide on R, and jump on B

I've been watching all your videos lately while I've been playing through all thr Mega Man games, and I gotta say, maybe it's just my thumbs but I've got no need to do an X-claw. On an SNES-like 8bitdo controller, the side of my thumb-knuckle can press A while the middle of it can press B while holding down on Y, or just to do a quick dash-jump. Now I'll also say, that may be the only controller I can do it WELL on, with those particular button placements and controller grips in the way. It's the way I learned to play MMX games on the SNES in the mid-90s and it still works today. So, no shame in doing your X-grip if that's how you feel comfortable, but have you ever tried the one-thumb X system? Also, very entertaining videos, I'm enjoying the channel.

You know I'm still playing x challenge vol 1 hard mode to this day, and I can't make it past stage 3. I barely made it past stage 2 since shield Sheldon is such a pain. Edit: I managed to beat the whole thing on hard mode, and it really was a painful journey, but it's done.

Love your stuff Trav, came to comment on the control binding issues you talked about. ...then I realized what I was going to comment was definitely added way after this videos release date. You can remap controls very easily within the switch main menu now, and I rebind my dash to a trigger every time. So uh, instead of wondering why Past Trav didn't do this... Uh, happy 2021! I'm currently on x2 personally but I plan to continually chip away at both pairs of collections. Big fan of retro platformers here. And a fan of Johnny, funny that you are too. Your videos on Doom helped me give in to finally owning a doom game, and I happened to go with doom 64!

I'd suggest Console if you can! The Steam Version is a little fuck-y right now. Crashes a lot, lots of sound issues, some report terrible input lag. It might get fixed down the line but as of now it hasn't.

One of the reasons why The Skiver/Spiral Pegasus is so hard, that boss has no clear or direct weakness, his supposed weakness "Dark Hold" doesn't even damage him.

I bought the two collections on PC and didn't realise the controls cannot be changed. I normally use WSAD for walking U for shoot, I for jump and O for dash, 7 for Giga attack. Needed this because I've suffered a stroke years ago.

Huh. I use the same control screen but I have never used the "X claw" preferring instead to kinda roll my knuckle between the A and B button to pull off dash-jumps.

For me, the difficulty-gap between easy and normal is too big. On easy you do twice the damage to bosses, everything refills between fights and deaths, bosses do ONE damage to you and the first boss drop health when they die. The reason the fights drag on normal is because all health-bars has been increased compared to their original health-bar. Easy: Beaten every boss on my first try (almost died at the hard ones) Normal: F U C K F U C K F U C K

1:08 - Yeah you say that but, well, it's pretty obvious now that they only made MM11 to capitalize on the failure of Mighty No.9. Just like those times they canceled all those Mega Man games a decade or so ago, spite for Inafune has governed Capcom's decisions. And because there's not another disastrous failure by Inafune for Capcom to capitalize on, Mega Man has been shelved yet again..........

You ain't missing much for completing hard mode. It's just a picture of Iris with the same picture in the background but slightly faded. The secret fight for (completing) Hard Mode is Ultimate Armor X and Awakened Zero. I've fighting them for a month.

I feel like there was a missed opportunity to make it so X Challenge Volume 2 used Zero instead of X. As it stands, there is next to no reason to play both volumes just for a single fight at the end to be different.

As someone who hasn't played any Mega man games since like 2001, and who's experience is limited to X3 and X5 on the PC, how should I get into the series now? I'm pretty much limited to a PC too. The collections ARE on Steam, but according to your videos they're a little hit and miss?

Megaman 11 has good accessibility options for less experienced/ rusty players. Alternatively, pick up the collections, turn rookie hunter mode on if you like. There's nothing wrong with playing on easier settings if you're still adjusting to them

@@indiesslice several months late but may as well throw my hat in. X Collection 2 is probably the worse of the two, as it has X6 and X7 which are generally considered terrible. Personally I think X5 is pretty fun and adore X8 but... yeah, its ultimately skippable. As for 11 making the older ones feel antiquated... I mean. Sort of? The double gear system is really lovely but aside from that it's not really different from say, 3 or 4 when you get right down to it.

4:00 i get you're stubborn but the reason that they didnt allow for button remapping was the switch had it built in to its settings. Too bad its only for the joycons and pro controllers and not anything like the weird promo joycons from a game i cant remember the name to that only works when attached to the switch.

I know this vid is 6 years old, and I know that people like fan service, but I haaate the normal end screen because it confuses so much of the lore around reploid's biology. The series makes a point of making reploids more skinny and human like as time goes on to show how much more advance and human-like they get till by xz they are indistinguishable outside of a red triangle on reploid's heads. The idea that all of that is just armor, inspite of cutscenes and the various anime shorts and such over the years to expand the lore, showing otherwise and that underneath is a near perfect human biology-accurate body that puts even the xz reploid's accuracy to shame is absurd. It also raises question like; if they were this human like now, why do future games have reploids look so much less advance by comparison in making their reploids not just humans with headgear? Why do they wear the bulky armor? They don't need it, they ould easily have smaller more compact and convenient armor in battle which would also make stealth missions more convenient. Why do we always see X and Zero and even the navigators walk around in the bulky armor, why wouldn't they walk around in casual clothes off duty like jeans and a t-shirt? Those are just the questions I feel comfortable raising, I won't even start with the questions of "how biologically accurate are they?" because I am not going down that road here. Also that precedent carried over to XDive as we all know and my parents will now murder me if I get that game cause of the fan service. I will not be able to play as omega for who knows how long, likely till I am an adult and live on my own. Thank you Capcom, I will not be allowed to give you my money and play as one of my favorite characters cause you wanted to milk the simp's wallets for money.

X8 issues for you DOES extists on PC so, it's not an excuse. The same version you have on Switch everyone have it too. Megaman Zero Collection was put together with a LOT more love than the X collection will ever receive. D:

i like the concept of this but.... i have always been a Zero player. I do like X and megaman... but what got me intp this franchise was Zero's gameplay. I don't like playing as X.... and in here you can only play as X, meaning that is i want to play this i have to adapt my gameplay style to X and character that i love, but don't like to play with... soo yeah.... would have been awesome to be able to play as X, Zero and Axl. Feels incomplete that you can only play it as X
