Thank you, first time growing a grapevine in yhe tropics. My main vine is established, currently trying to train 2 cordons. My mistake I was removing the new laterals as the shoots come out from the cordons, I read somewhere to remove all shoots and laterals for the first 2 years...I only removed about 5 shoots from 2 feet of both arms. Will I still get new shoots from it in the coming years? I will leave all others as the arms continue to grow from now onwards.

Very informative videos. You guys did an amazing job with your muscadine breeding program. I got 8 different varieties from you guys and my favorite one is Black Beauty. They taste great as soon as they turn red and get a little soft. The rest you gotta wait for them to get fully ripe. My Supreme muscadine was mislabeled. I think I got a darlene or sweet jenny instead. I don't know what Supreme is like but the Darlene or sweet jenny is very good and very big. In the order from best to worst here in Fairfax, VA is Black Beauty, Darlene/Sweet Jenny, Early Fry, Triumph, Nestbitt, Late Fry, Ison, Pam. Keep up with the great products.

I have used your videos in my first real year of growing muscadines on a wire and now your fertilizer as well it has been a great success thank you!! . My plant is about 3 years now. It was an experiment initally but have now taken a great interest and seriousness in it here in central Florida.. So initally I let it just grow wild no real fertilizers and no pruning (I was just clueless) it went wild everwhere on my stockade fence then died for the winter after seeing your videos this year while it was dormant I cut it all back and was able to get it down the wire each direction.. I am a week or two before they are at the 10 foot mark. Question. What happens at the end do i just cut it back and keep it 10 feet and let the sprigs grow now. I actually have two grapes trying to grow. Thats one more than last year lol. So what do you recommend. Keep the easy to follow videos coming were watching!!!

During the process of training vine "down the wire" (not yet 10 feet each side) if any fruit appears should I also trim the new fruit off as it appears while I am pinching off laterals. i.e. until the training is complete?
@rommell838 жыл бұрын
Thank you Greg. The muscadine vines I purchased from you are doing well. I believe I am training them correctly. This was another great video. Is there a possibility that I will get a couple of muscadines next year? My trip (500 miles) to see you a few months ago really paid off. Thanks again for your instruction that day.

Hi Sir..I live in the caribbean and started to grow a grape vine just to see if it would grow! Well, it has thrived and has grown to be well over 30 ft long. I have never pruned it as I did not know how. As it it now October, I was wondering what steps I need to do going forward. Any advice would be appreciated..thanks.

The most valuable horticulture video I've ever seen! Q: Are we supposed to pinch off the side laterals every year/growing season, or just in the initial "training down the wire" phase? 🍇 🌞 🤔

Just in the initial "training down the wire" phase. He explains in further videos how to prune them in successive years.

Do you ever wait to get pencil thickness before training down the wire?
@davidjeromedawson7 жыл бұрын
Probably as silly question, but since I'm new at this, do you leave the laterals at the end of the growing year if the vine has reached its full growth in length.

So I live in Northern Indiana and my local Wal-Mart has Muscadines for sale and I bought two, I have not planted them yet as it was an impulse buy and now I am reading that they are not really suited for my agricultural zone. I can take them back but another side of me wants to try. Will they produce ripe fruit in my area or will it be a waste of time and garden space for me? Thanks!
@IsonsNursery3 жыл бұрын
Temperatures that fall below 10 degrees may kill or severely injure the muscadine vines. In a residential area temps will stay warmer than in an open field. Maybe worth a shot

I set my four vines up a little differently based upon some info I had at the time. I have two trellises that are 12 feet apart and 40 feet long. I planted a vine at each end post. I had planned to train them down the wire for 20 feet, each vine and they only would grow in one direction. Is this still a viable setup?

Double 5 since No one responded, how has it worked out after 3 years?
@double5bbq4 жыл бұрын
Shotgunbobby1 I have some insanely productive vines! It worked out absolutely perfectly and I’m even setting up another vine this year in the same fashion. They are five years old this summer and absolutely get loaded with grapes. Thanks for asking.

Double 5 glad it all worked out.
@double5bbq4 жыл бұрын
Shotgunbobby1 I should also say that I do mine 100% organic and it works great. I live in Coastal Ga and the vines thrive. No chemicals involved. Just compost, a little Epsom salts and occasional Citrus Tone fertilizer. Other that that, I do just what Isons says in these videos.

For any grape that requires spur pruning, as opposed to cane pruning, yes, I believe so.
