This plays like one of those ridiculous one country mods that are incredibly overpowered because the mod developer happens to be from that nation. Sure, you can steal land of three WW2 major powers with a click of a button and then get free cores on them. At least Paradox limited the research slots and the (possibly) temporary issue of stability problems. It even has broken unfinished events like at 13:26!

I am %100 sure Paradox out sourced Swiss tree. It has many things they wouldn't do. For example: You can form Alpine X with every path but your flag only changes with focus and is not directly connected to tag. Even Ottomans use their shitty democratic flag when they got puppeted because their cosmetic tag is connected to their ideology. And no alternative formables, yeah Swiss is not the most versatile nation but there should be another formable with maybe less efficency. Like even Greece had Macedonian empire if you choose all the shitty options(Bring king / Play historical Metaxis / Do not go for fascist Metaxis). Are you saying we couldn't form a south German confederation(the most easy example that comes to mind)? Paradox never tooled focuses to use party popularity this hard. They were mostly gate keepers for bigger focuses such as Bulgaria, Turkey, Germany etc... Now there are 2 3 focuses with each wanting different party popularity.

I tortured myself playing switzerland like 15 times. Two things i learned you can min/max the swiss tree and there are two advisors that are very important to grab. The one that gives +50% pp and the one that ISP showed with +20% research. The latter does provide a research slot once elected president/ the presidential initiative is finished. I found out that rushing to get armed neutrality keeps that entire part of the tree open (I usually would go one focus past armed neutrality in that path for the buffs/army exp) and as long as you dont turn off the balance of power you can use your political advisors to push your balance of power back to the cantons side after going down the path ISP went to form the Alpine Confederation which is important as there are 3 focuses that increases recuitable population factor that require the cantons being in power to some degree. If you want to really push your balance of power towards the cantons you can oust the president after banking a minimum of 600pp (not too hard with the +50% pp adviser) and letting the balance of power slam towards the cantons.

Another notable discovery, if you get the focus "All Adults Training" before switching over to regular conscription laws, you will start off on Extensive Conscription but getting to that is a gamble if you want to take austria unless germany went into civil war

I know they redid the Warscore and everything. But I had been under the impression it was to fix it so "Eat rocks and die" like the Soviets do isn't the chief determining factor of the war. But... it seems it really is. You get a lot more Warscore for having your armies wiped out than you do for actually winning, taking territory, actually contributing to success, etc. Since the Devs were saying that the idea was to "reward those who won the war" and such... I think they failed.

I tried doing Communist Switzerland, which meant abandoning most of the Focus Tree since there's no path for it. It was a long, LONG game of "Holding the mountains against the Half-a-Globe-Large Axis Powers, knowing very well that our militia army would fall, but not *when* it would. Got a bit of a break when Barbarossa was happening, and we could actually begin pushing outwards, but most of all our hopes were dashed when the Soviets folded and all the german troops returned. ...We still fought to the better last man, Long Live the Swiss Cantons!

There's a way to get the preempt anschluss and also the allied branch if you form the Alpine Confederation through decision and then work your way back to get the secret pact with the allies. It's tricky to do since you need to pretty much revert everything you did regarding canton power and democracy support but it's absolutely overpowered in every way and arguably the most fun path to go with the Swizz focus tree.

ISP you can definitely do the right path of the focuses as well. You just need Germany to be alive for it. Only certain missions cancel each other out, not the whole branches, which is a bit unusual.

Paradox in a nutshell: Creates a DLC that includes 1 focus tree that should have been in the game for free, and 2 or 3 focus trees that are completely stupid and unrealistic. Charges $20. Mojang in a nutshell: Alters the game through updates that make it almost completely unrecognizable compared to its vanilla release, expanding potential play time by hundreds of hours and increasing the scope of the world 3x. That shit is free.

I went down the Guisan Coup branch and held out my last 3 provinces in the mountains until the allies beat the axis. During the war (which I at first did not participate in) I aquired states of Germany and Italy democratically, which I got back after the war, including italy as puppet. Pretty weird.
