Paraguay has a bit of a unique history, it was very prosperous until in the 1860s they got into a war with all of their neighbors and the result was "Paraguay is estimated to have lost up to 69% of its population" (wikipedia). So the point of the focus is I guess to revisit that war.

I am from there, the number may be more since they killed all men and male children. We went to war against Brazil, Brazil was trying to replace an allied party in the Uruguayan goverment, as well trying to slowly position their warships inside the paraguayan border, that they did, but the Paraguayan goverment responded by destroying and capturing the warship tresspasing. Brazil got pissed with Paraguay, and eventually overthrown the allied party in Uruguay and replaced it with a dictatorship that supported them. Paraguay tried to cross thru Argentina's territory to try to reinstitute the previous Uruguayan goverment. Argentina said no, we don't wanna get involved with Brazil and stay neutral, screw Uruguay. So Paraguay being Paraguay, bulldozed thru Argentinian territory towards Uruguay, not stopping and not letting anyone stand in their way. So Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina are angry, so the 3 leading dictators make an alliance and join forces and Paraguay says, fine, and declare war on the 3 countries. Believe it or not, Paraguay did hold the country pretty well, but that wasn't enough to stop the wrath of 3 allied countries. Is a fun topic, most women passed down the war stories for years and years to come, since they were the only survivors. All men and male children were murdered, hospitals burned down and women abused. The triple alliance took over most of the Paraguayan territory, and it shrink into the size of a peanut. The women rebuild the whole nation luckily, and because of well, polygamy, the nation quickly raised up again and won by a mile the next war, the Chaco War (bolivia vs paraguay) and succesfully defended the little land they have left, neat.

I actually like the "Stuff of Legends" path of focus tree. If they would give the option to white peace after you unvade Guyana or just remove them from the requirements and add Uruguay instead. It would be more thematically greater for the focus tree that Paraguay beated all of those who they fought against in the Triple Alliance war and defeated them all and cored them

Last time I did this I just went to war with the Allies for the cores anyway, figured screw it why not and it was beyond insane. Guyana has all the aluminium you could ever need to build a gigantic airforce, and at that point I just fought my way north and killed USA. Once you've done that you are basically God and can do whatever you want. You have a focus that removes all of your war justification restrictions, so you get all the benefits of being democratic with basically none of the downsides. This path is such a sleeper and I absolutely love it.

I did the anti-colonialist line for both Paraguay and Uruguay. They're pretty tricky to get started, but I actually had a lot of fun with both. No cheese required, but I'm sure it would make it easier. I had to restart a number of times for each, but it's not nearly as frustrating as trying to figure out Switzerland, Turkey, Ethiopia, or non-historical Communist Russia. Once you really get going, you are stronk as eff.

I played the crusade against imperialism as Paraguay as my first game after the DLC launch. It was suprisingly easy since the AI was busy over in Europe and the americans states were pretty much undefended. After that it was just a standard port defence. I also haven't touched any of the other South American trees.

I did do that one focus, whose name i wont bother checking. I ran out of manpower halfway into Peru, but took down brazil and argentina, but then got the allies on my ass, and again, just didnt have the manpower to garrison ports as well as continue fighting for all of south america, even on scraping the barrel.

I can say i did the crusade against imperialism. Can say was fun af. At top of that the amount of bonuses for arty you ger in the fucuses is insale, i built 20 or 22 with mounteners with 2- 3 arty divisuons in them. Holy moly everything disintigrated, even went to usa and was goin g trough them as butter. Only problem manpower. Until you take the cores from the crusade. I think paraguay is one of my favorite countries that can just go brrrrr with arty +mountaniers + rangers. In another playtrouth almousst wholle europe was taken by axis, joined allies landed in portugal that was like 10% to capitulation and just steamrollled everything, didnt even have air
