Dan has said it himself that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer and his decisions to jump into quick fights kind of show it. All these dudes disrespecting Arnold Allen. Dude looked great is ranked number 6 at featherweight and is like 18 - 1. Islam has a hype train but and some decent wins but he hasn't proven much more than Allen. his best wins are drew dober as well as hooker and bobby both on short notice. I don't mean to downgrade Islam i am saying both are prospects and have similar resumes it's just Islam is looked at as the next khabib but he has a lot to prove against olives
@amhawk8742
@amhawk8742 2 жыл бұрын
In Dan's last skid he lost to Dustin & Chandler... Both of whom fought for the title afterward. After totally dominating one of the top unranked guys at LW to show he still deserves his ranking, he lost to Islam who is now fighting for the title & to Arnold Allen at FW which he lost cuz the weight cut was too hard. So far he's lost only to top 10 guys & has shown he can beat unranked guys. If he beats Tony, he could get another big match-up against Paddy. Both fights are 50/50 but if he wins both then he's right back into the top 10.

I like this assessment. I think Hooker vs Ferguson is a great fight to determine who Paddy fights next. It will also show us where both of those guys are. Just look at Glover, Charlie Olives, Bisping, Jan, Aljo, and many more.

If he wins one fight he's back into the top 10, he's currently rank 13 with McGregor and Tony ahead of him. Sure it's a stacked division but with guys like RDA coming off a loss he could easily go into top 10, sure he might get leapfrogged by Gamrot if he beats Darisuh etc, but as soon as Islam and Oliveira fight one of them will get the title and everyone will get bumped up a spot regardless. One win, he's back in top 10 for sure. Also makes no sense for him to fight unranked Paddy Pimblett right now from Dan's POV. Paddy should fight with either RDA or Tsarukyan who are both top 10 guys coming off a loss.

This isn't boxing and we don't want it to be, stop shitting on fighters for losing to the best in the world or we might stop seeing the best fight the best constantly. Since his last win he's lost to Islam and Allen, Islam is the favorite to beat the champ and Allen is a serious dark horse in his division, very similar to how Islam was looked at a few fights ago imo. I don't want Olivera to lose but realistically both of them could easily become future champs, especially with Volk leaving the division. Nothing wrong with losing to them. He's such a nice guy anyone shitting on him for losing is simply a hater who probably hates their own life too.

Yes, in MMA there are so many ways to win and consequently so many ways to lose, you can't always fully cover all of those possibilities, so losses don't tell that much. And sometimes a fighter hits a plateau, not everyone can be a Top5 fighter, and until you start losing to lower level fighters indicating a real physical decline, there's always the chance you break that plateau.
@codykeane6107
@codykeane6107 2 жыл бұрын
@@angelsjoker8190 Yeah we've seen it time and time again people come back from losses and go on hot streaks, every single fighter that's currently a champion has lost, if they packed it up when they lost they'd have never become champions. Hooker vs. Ferguson would be a fantastic matchup. The problem I see with Hooker is that he's not strategic enough... he doesn't always need to get into slugfests.

People forgetting Hooker’s last 4 losses came from Poirier, Chandler, Makhachev and a rising featherweight in Arnold Allen lol

I'm just really puzzled why he felt featherweight would be a good move after losing to Islam. After doing everything to make his fight with Nasrat Haqparast and stepping in with little prep against Islam he should've anticipated a good matchup at lightweight.

Volk is such an articulate intelligent talker, such a contrast to Adesanya now who isn't humble anymore, he's a legit R.Kelly weirdo now. Saying people are stupid is such a bad thing to say, people call it how they see it.

His chin's gone. That's not disrespect it's a fact. Other than that he's still a beast. With that in mind, the only way he can compete moving forward is to stop standing & trading and develop a more defensive style. I can't see it happening though because the dude loves to scrap.

I respect that they defend their friend & teammate but you can't really deny that all the dog fights he got in along the years finally caught up with him. He just can't that shots as he used to. I sadly think that he is on a downward spiral.

that's unfair, he was basically 'on call' during the pandemic. hard to say if he's washed up or just fucking tired. no champ or even first year signees to the UFC had to go through as much just to get to the fight. Most fighters rightfully would just cancel the fight, save the money and time. I think it was literally 4+ months straight he had to be quarantined in a hotel in the middle east. What made it worse is due to New Zealand crap rules on Covid he was basically locked out of his country. He had to quarantine in both countries. then they stopped his main source of his business which was his gym. Literally was trying to arrest Dan and other UFC fighters for practicing in New Zealand. i know all UFC fighters go through it but his case was truly unique.

And i also think its stupid how people like you dont look at the situation in detail, its not like hes losing here and there, hes losing in devastating or humiliating fashion, his only recent good performance in a long time was against an unranked haqparast and he's 1-4 in his last 5. Dans fight IQ is horrendous, hes reckless, constantly getting into wars, taking shit tons of damage, damn near no defense, has probably had years shaved off his life, got his chin absolutely demolished by chandler of all people and cant grapple to save his life and can no longer compete against a decent featherweight after rehydrating despite having a natural size advantage, now i dont think its time to retire just yet but one or two more devastating losses hammers the final nail. But his time at the top and any hope for a title are now nothing.

At this point he can only improve to be the door keeper for the new talent in to the top ten. He fought too many wars, absorved too much damage and also depleted himself by cutting weight.
