A rematch with Poatan makes no sense at this point. They fought 4 times, and are arguably 2-2 with Izzy getting robbed in the 1st kickboxing fight. Not to mention Izzy has the best finish of all 4 fights AND Poatan is now at 205 where Izzy can't even compete. Makes absolutely no sense at this point of their careers. Poatan just can't get over the loss. He wants to redeem it and hoping for that payday honestly. I get it though. I do sort of agree with the Strickland assessment. I think stylistically it's a really bad matchup for Adesanya, and Izzy has always struggled against very defensively sound fighters throughout his career. I wouldn't say he's ducking him though. Izzy throughout his entire career has never ducked anyone. Instead, he's been the most active champ within the past 5 years and has taken on literally EVERYONE that would sign the contract. And on top of that, who even knows. For all we know, Izzy took Sean lightly which led to the KD in the first round which dictated the rest of the fight. Or Sean was just better that evening, who knows. But if they rematch again, I'd put my money on Izzy based off his IQ and ability to adjust between camps. I get some of the hate on Izzy, but to accuse a competitor of his caliber of ducking is just absurd, especially when there's no history of it in his career, and given all the highlights and accolades he holds.

Think the overwhelming majority of KB fans would also agree judges got that one wrong, which is why they had to rematch them in 2017. In fact, I'd argue that in reality, Alex is the lucky one in the whole scenario because he was gifted the first KB fight then wrongfully saved by the ref in his home country which led to the KO in the 2nd KB fight. I'm a fan of both guys, but objectively speaking, Alex was losing the 2nd KB fight until the ref saved him. And in MMA, Izzy outstruck and outwrestled him before getting caught in the first fight. It's pretty clear who the better martial artist is of the 2. Not to mention with the absurd size advantage Pereira has over most 185ers, it's amazing that someone Izzy's size can even be competitive with him, let alone knock him out. Also, if you wanna go with just strictly MMA, it's 1-1 with Izzy having the better highlights and finish soooo.....LOL To compare it to the DDP/Strickland fight is interesting. I wouldn't call that a robbery because not only was it a close fight, but by the unified rules of MMA, DDP won clearly whereas Izzy rightfully should've been given the first KB fight in accordance to the KB rules. I was also sad Sean lost though. I was rooting for him. Love me some Poatan too. Can't really say he's had a "better" career in MMA than Izzy. It's just different. What he's done in his short time is impressive, but I mean.....Alex has yet to show he can even defend a belt in MMA lol. It'll be hard to match the title reigns of all the other dominant champs, Izzy being one of them.
