No he got worse and then adapted to MMA. In kickboxing their is no takedown. And even when they trip you the ref let's you get up. He had to change his stance and movement when he got into MMA. Kick boxers that didn't do this adjustment failed their MMA careers.

Israel adesanya is one of the best, because he knows his weaknesses , he has formulated a plan, where he puts a trap where his weakness is, so if his opponent tries to expose that weakness, he will have to pay for exposing it. Truly a good fighter, a dying breed. He breaks the will of his opponent, almost all fighters against him in this video, he played with them before finishing them off. 31:24 watch the fight at 31:24 How the fight almost turns into slow motion after his opponent is knocked down.
