Israel Has Exceeded Reasonable Use Of Force, Says Ireland At ICJ Hearing | Dawn News English

Ireland presented its perspective at the ICJ Advisory Opinion Hearings on Israeli Practices and Policies in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Mr. Rossa Fanning, the Attorney General of Ireland, represented the country.
In his statement, he emphasized Ireland's commitment to upholding a global order based on respect for international law. Ireland expressed profound concern about the attacks launched by Hamas against Israel on October 7, condemning them unequivocally.
The actions, including the rape and murder of civilians, destruction of civilian property, taking of hostages, use of human shields, and firing indiscriminate rockets at urban centers, were deemed serious violations of international humanitarian law, and Ireland called for accountability for those involved.

Yes, Ireland should lose the unsubstantiated claims of rape and child murders by Hamas. IDF killed their own people too to justify their intelligence failures of that day, besides if Oct 7 is response in context of 57 years of occupation, then it was a military raid not a civilian attack. Those kibbutz’s are military installations and designed as the oppressor front line of keeping Gaza under siege, at least that is the opinion of military strategists who have knowledge of why they were placed there in the first place. Do a little bit more research and revise your submission, Hamas has a moral code and better discipline than the IDF . There was no rape involved on October 7 by Hamas. Many of the killings on October 7 were done by the idf as discovered subsequently by certain Israeli interests and as stated publicly by one surviving Israeli soldier. This inaccurate position of blaming all destruction and deaths upon Hamas must stop because the Israeli government also played its destructive role on October 7 Nonetheless, the law abiding world is grateful for Ireland's support for the downtrodden, subjugated Palestinian people at this ICJ's hearing .

I was born in Dublin to an Irish father, English mother, now reside in NYC and have questions for re this Irish presentation... It was a good, clear argument for most part and I do understand it was limited to 30 minute per country, which is very short considering Palestine has endured decades of oppression. Where is the rape & “human sheild” evidence which still does not justify collective punishment?. Maybe I missed it but I did not hear the illegal apartheid mentioned or expanded upon, I heard the consequence s for not abiding by International law but did I miss the timeline? I’m Irish and I’m actually embarrassed by all the comments praising Ireland’s political response as I personally feel our government (for the most part) has been shamefully slow to call this out for what it is and to take appropriate action in terms of sanctions and whatever else is at our legal disposal. I think our stance is not nearly strong enough and only ‘praiseworthy’ or notable when juxtaposed with the responses of other nation states… and that’s a sickeningly low bar.

What would you like him to do, when everyone with any power is lying, denying, refuting the obvious. It's kind of what you do in a court, a public hearing, a legal proceedings... state the truth as clearly, fully, and concisely as you can.
