Mr Doyle left something out. When Israel left Lebanon in 2006 resolution 1701 was adopted by most UN parties. Unifils troops were based there to implement this resolution. Huge failure. They let Hezbollah enter south Lebanon, fortify that region and posing a threat to Israel's borders. Over 80,000 Israeli were displaced in their own country because there was no buffer zone anymore. 11 months later, warnings to withdraw back to the Litani river( resolution 1701), diplomacy efforts failed, Hezbollah did not respond which eventually created this mess.

Mr Doyle reasoning is so illogical and so impractical. The situation on the 6th October 2023 was that of a permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that had held firm for several years.Approximately18,000 Palestinians were crossing over every day into Israel for work.Seriously ill Palestinians were being admitted into Israel for medical attention.Israel had agreed with Qatar that Qatar could subsidise the h people of Gaza with billions of dollars to develop their infrastructure.Over 100 trucks were delivering aid from the Israeli side of the border on a daily basis. On the 7th October approximately 3000 Hamas crossed over into Israel and murdered 1200 men woman and children, committed numerous rapes and took another 250 civilians hostage……I suppose mr Doyle would tell them that this is not acceptable and that they should apologise in writing!
