Israel rejects ceasefire proposals and presses ahead with 'targeted strikes' on Rafah

Israel has rejected a ceasefire proposal accepted by Hamas and announced it is pushing ahead with an assault on the town of Rafah in southern Gaza.
Hamas had said it would agree to a proposed ceasefire deal, but Israel says the terms of the proposal did not meet its key demands - but added they are willing to send negotiators for further talks.
