I think Gideon Levy made the point that Israelis do not wish to know what is going on in Gaza and will choose to watch their own home grown propaganda biased local Israeli media over the likes of Al Jazeera etc. A recent Israeli poll showed that 58% thought that the IDF had not gone far enough with its bombing of Gaza, whereas only 1.8% of Israeli respondents thought that the IDF had gone too far with its bombing of Gaza and the remainder thought the bombing was about right, so that equates to pretty much the whole of respondents 98% believing the IDF's bombing was fundamentally appropriate. Gideon stressed that the Israelis are only able to focus on their own loss and are able to block out anyone else's suffering. As Helen Keller said, 'If you keep your face to the sun, you cannot see your shadow'. In the case of the Israelis, it is reversed, 'If you keep your face to the shadows, you cannot see the sun'.

A very illuminating and well constructed presentation from very learned speakers who clearly are driven by decency and a strong moral compass. I never knew that Karim Khan, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court was a British National, which now explains a lot. What a devastating indictment for the US and UK in the opening lines by John Dugard, Professor of Law; Former UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Palestine stating that it is US and UK that are to blame for the failure of the Security Council, and the failure of the ICC in pursuing Israel in 2021, both deliberately chose not to address the Palestinian issue. So it is clear that the Palestinians have tried unsuccessfully to seek redress through legal and democratic means to hold Israel accountable but has repeated been let down by these organisations due to obstructions and manipulations by the US and the UK.

South Africa is a mess ... u would not last 10 min in any CBD area in South Africa without bodyguards. I'm a bodyguard in S.A. so please don't compare...it's one of the most violent countries in the world.

Agree. I am a senior South African. After our country gained its wonderful democratic freedom 30 years ago, it has been run down in every way. Corruption from the government down to municipalaties, is rife; murder and other crime is at the order of the day; unemployment is sky high followed by poverty and hunger, etc, etc. Don't use it as an inspirational model.

Now I know the prosecutor, Kalim Kahn is the core problem. He is UK citizen and nominated by UK government. As a result he is not working for justic, he ignores Israelis' crimes against Palestines, totally relying on UK/US. Knowing this is the utmost manmade catastrophes in a century, Kalim Kahn keeps silent. Maybe, because war crimes by Israelis are completely obvious and wide open to the public, there aren't any excuses they can make. Long been wondering ICC's slow/no movement on this. Now for me it's clear ICC'S existence is not for justic and the problem is the prosecutor, Kalim Kahn. Removing him from his position is the urgent matter. Quick action for Putin's war crime warrant and unfairness to Gaza strocities.
