@Jacob Ezra Wrong. Medical research of recent years, doing meta-analysis on the whole spectrum of peer-reviewed scientific studies - has shown that the healthiest people in the world are (A) communities such as in Japanese islands where no meat is consumed, a lot of vegetables in the diet, and some fish too. (B) Vegetarian communities such as the 7th Day Adventist Christians in USA. (C) those that consume small amounts of meat with a lot of vegetables. The biggest killers among global disease aka cancer, coronary heart disease etc., are now proven beyond doubt to be *highly* increased risk from eating *lean* red meat, as well as from saturated fats from animals. The scientific conseus on veganism has more nuance, but generally the above findings should be taken into account.

My dad had a friend who was an orthodox hasidic jew, who liked hanging out with my dad (also Jewish, but not kosher or religious) to experience the wild side of life (i.e non religiouslife) & my dad took my sister, one of her friends and me on a spontaneous cruise vacation. He spent 99% of the time playing high stakes blackjack, but the food and him trying to keep kosher was an issue that I could see was frustrating him. If anyone had thought to do it by the way, they could have notified the cruise line beforehand and they would have bought from a vendor just for this kosher meals for him. Since it was a spontaneous trip, maybe there wasn't time. By the time we stopped in Barbados all the man could talk about was getting a tuna fish sandwich, I think he wanted something normal from his life as he was just tired of eating new food that he wasn't sure about. So that day instead of going to the beach or any tourist place we ended up on the streets of Bridgetown, not for nothing, it's a perfectly fine city, but it could be Brooklyn. We end up at some pizzeria for Tuna fish, and when he asked for a tuna fish sandwich that's exactly what they gave him. However instead of the prospered product that he's used to seeing when he opens a can of tuna fish at home. It's whole filets of tuna . The guy was literally ready to cry. I don't think he had a decent meal the whole week poor guy. It's like that saying, "Surrounded by water, but not a drop to drink"

The dietary rules were never intended to apply to anyone other than the Israelites. The purpose of the food laws was to make the Israelites distinct from all other nations. After this purpose had ended, Jesus declared all foods clean (Mark 7:19). Later, God gave the apostle Peter a vision that implied formerly unclean animals could be eaten: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean” (Acts 10:15). When Jesus died on the cross, He fulfilled the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:24-26; Ephesians 2:15). This includes the laws regarding clean and unclean foods.

Living in Israel is wonderful, but it's a daily struggle to show how one can be a Jew and believe in the Risen Christ and not forfeit their Jewishness. It's not only perfectly possible, it's the most obvious and realistic thing for a Jew to do! Kosher is the name of the jewish eating rules. It's also how the meat is prepared (slaughtered only in a certain way) but also what you are and aren't allowed to eat. For example here are a few things people who keep kosher don't eat: pork, seafood, meat and milk products together.
@marksimons88613 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised he only mentioned once the wait between milky stuff after eating meat. After all this is part of the deal. Then all the rigmarole with two sets of plates, two sets of cutlery, two sets of pots and pans, two separate washing up bowls, two sinks etc etc didn't come up at all. Are you supposed to have two oven and two microwaves? And no one mentioned 'kosher for Passover' when you have two more festive sets of everything for just one week of the year.
@guywhousesapseudonymonyout42723 жыл бұрын
It always cracks me up the way you Brit Jews say "milky" and "meaty" For some reason, American Jews will either use the Yiddish/German words "milchig"(or "milkhik" with Yiddish transliteration)/"fleischig"/(or "flayshik" (with Yiddish transliteration), and if they don't use the Yiddish expressions, they say "meat " and "dairy". In my American family my father always said "b'esari" and "halavi" even when he was speaking English, because he was Israeli and Sephardic. The first time I heard someone say "milky" swas when I was at a Shabbat lunch with British Orthodox Jews, and someone made a mistake with the silverware and the mum said "Oy, it's a milky spoon, not a meaty spoon!" (or something like that) and it just made me laugh. I mean literally "meaty/milky" is closer to the German Yiddish, "milchig/fleischig", but it still sounds funny to me.
@guywhousesapseudonymonyout42723 жыл бұрын
Regarding two ovens, it depends. In my childhood home, we had two ovens, top and bottom, one for dairy and one for meat, but if you don't have that, you can either kasher it by cleaning it very thoroughly and putting it on a very high temperature (if you have an electric oven with self-cleaning mode, that makes it easier); or you can cook a meat meal in an oven that was used for dairy if you double wrap everything. Like if you have a roaster pan, and then you wrap it in foil while it is in the oven, and are careful not to open it up while the food is cooking (if you have to check on it, you take it out of the oven, unwrap everything, re-wrap everything again so it is covered by two layers, and then put it back in). In fact, you can even cook a kosher meal in a totally non-kosher oven that way. My brother will do that when he visits his in-laws. My brother is still Orthodox, his wife is a convert (her father is Jewish, her mother is not). He goes to their house on a Friday afternoon before Shabbat sometimes, with his wife and kids, brings kosher chicken, whatever, and cooks a completely kosher meal for everybody so they can have Shabbat dinner together as a family in their house. They put up with him and my sister-in-law, so they can spend time with their Orthodox grandchildren. Microwaves, it's a similar issue. You either have two for meat and dairy, or you kasher them between meat and dairy food prep, or you very carefully cover and double-wrap dairy food if it's warmed in a meat microwave or meat food in a dairy microwave. When I used to keep kosher more strictly I often had kosher pre-prepared meals that I would warm up in the office (non-kosher) microwave. They were sealed in plastic wrap inside the box, and the box itself was shrink wrapped in plastic. I'd just pop the whole thing in the microwave. Of course I was also getting all kinds of toxic plastic leached in my food which was probably not so good for me, cancer is a bad thing. I don't do that anymore, except maybe when I work in the office during Hol ha Mo'ed (intermediate days) of Passover , sometimes I'll bring some kosher for Passover microwaveable food and heat it up that way. (I'm not religious or strict , now I eat vegetarian food from the non-kosher office cafeteria or the restaurants in the neighborhood, but I suddenly get fanatic during Pesah.) But usually I can manage a few days at the office on Passover with some hardboiled eggs from home and some apples or bananas that I'll buy from street vendors. Nowadays anyway I'm working from home due to COVID, and I will probably still be doing so during Passover (two and a half months away).

@יואב דניאל how can atheists justify land grab on a supposed promise from God then ? And werent jews supposed to be a religious society?
@moroccanboy33853 жыл бұрын
@יואב דניאל judaism is a racist religion because its like the maffia you can't enter it unless your mother is jewish. God would never discriminate between his children but according to Judaism the jews are better than all other humans. Thats a sick religion. We are all equal and if you're an atheist israeli you're not the people of moses and isaac and abraham you're just a colonial convert / atheist.

@יואב דניאל i don't understand that God can exclude humans from religion and make a ethnic religion to me thats racist and supremacist thinking. Im glad for islam its for all of mankind black white brown yellow etc

@יואב דניאל judaism has a conception of race where it distinguishes between jew and gentile and places jews on top of the hierarchy, that to me is a clear indication of racism.
